Scouting the Penguins

A reminder that to follow tonight’s game — 5 p.m. Pacific start — you can listen to 1150-AM and other radio affiliates and/or follow the action here with regular updates on the blog. It’s a long day for the Pittsburgh Penguins, who weren’t scheduled to arrive in Kansas City until 4 p.m. local time, apparently believing it was better to spend as much time at home as possible. The Penguins, of course, are without Sidney Crosby, who hasn’t played since suffering a concussion last season, but Evgeni Malkin is scheduled to play tonight. For the latest on the Penguins, here are a couple stories…

    @Hat trick,

    Nooooooo. No fights for Cliffy. He doesn’t defend himself at all that kid – all heart and no guard — if he fights he’s going to get concussed…… Ask Hunter to do it or someone else who’s trying to audition for a role…..

    @Weasel, Clifford can handle Malkin no problem. The problem with Clifford is when he goes up against bigger or more experienced fighters. His fighting was great at the beginning of last year and I think he got a little too cocky and took on fighters outside his weight class. As long as he keeps to the middleweights, he’ll be alright.

    @Weasel, Fighting will always be a part of his game. I for one will never be worried for him when he drops the gloves. He got caught with a couple shots last year. But what rookie fighter hasn’t? He dishes out far more than he takes. Still not convinced…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQZxwRpKyJQ

    I sure hope Gagne gets some more time in. He looked like he needed it badly last Sunday. He and Parse could of exchanged jerseys and no one would of noticed … and I don’t mean that in a good way.

    @KC23, Me too Gagne is a Penguin killer!! He always played great for Philly against Pittsburgh. Hopefully Richards still has some bad blood with them too. Watch out Pens!! lol

    @KC23, that’s a scary thought! But, I would agree that Gagne looked lost Sunday. That’s why they have training camp and preseason games though!

    Would love to see how JJ handles Malkins strength. Positionally JJ likes to be close enough to play the body, and let his partner cover the rest of the ice. All the others just play positional. He’ll have to play Malkin pretty strong to shut him down completely if he does play him close.

    Kings are 10-1 odds to win the cup. Am I reading that correctly?

    @Joey No-No, Las Vegas. But how accurate are they, the Oilers went from 50-1, to 20-1, did they improve overnight?

    @Ryan, Gotcha…I thought you saw that line online. Thanks! GO KINGS GO!

    @Joey No-No, They are 10-1 on sports book, 14-1 on Bodog. They generally range between 10 and 16 to 1.
