Simon Gagne’s postgame thoughts…
(on the game…)
GAGNE: “In the last two periods, we were more patient with the puck, and that’s what you want. You don’t want to play to the score. That’s what we said after the second (period). We just want to go out there and get better and better. I thought we did that in the last 20, but the first 40 minutes was not quite the type of hockey we want to play. It’s preseason, and you need to play those games to get going. To me, it’s maybe too much practice now and not enough games, and we need to get going and play those games, and we’re going to get that this week.’’
(on playing a prospect-heavy Ducks team…)
GAGNE: “Sometimes, I don’t know, it could be hard. It’s maybe the nature of any guys. You look at the lineup and you think they’ve got a `B’ team and they don’t have their best players, so maybe you think it’s going to be easier. That’s maybe why we started the game like we did. But it’s not an excuse. Even if it’s preseason, you want to find a way to get better as quick as you can. The season is coming pretty soon. But like I said, it’s only the second game. For some guys it was only their first game, and we need to play those games to get better. You can practice all you want, but there’s not a better way than to go out and play games before your season starts.’’

@KingsFanFTW,
Agreed. Both guys are good for Kings. As a long time player of the game – chemistry jut takes time…nothing replicates it like a real game.

Players always have that motto, but it’s up to the coach to get them focused and ready to play the game regardless of who they’re playing against, they weren’t tonight.

Simmer isn’t wearing a visor anymore. Wonder why.

@Who Knows?,
I think he’s allowed to take it off during pre-season, but once season starts he must put it back on.

Boy, I expected to see more than this against a rookie team.
Where’s the result of all this preparation??

@SouthbayFan, This still is preperation. I didn’t like it, either but this thing is a work in progress.

@SouthbayFan,
Re-read this:

@Icecrown, Especially on our PP. He must have learned some of that mind control Quick was taught. He kept clearing their zone by force of will.

@Kenny44, Voynov needs to learn how to shoot off the pass. several times last night he stopped the puck and fumbled it pefore shooting into the Duck player. ONE TIMERS RULE
