Brown postgame quotes (9/21)

Dustin Brown’s postgame thoughts…

(on the exhibition opener…)
BROWN: “We’ve been out there practicing hard, but there’s nothing really quite like getting hit and getting rubbed out, I guess. The physical side of it makes it a lot more taxing. Like I said, we’ve been working hard in practice but you don’t have that grind, that body contact. The preseason, in your first game, you’re pretty tired after. You’re getting in better shape as the preseason goes on, and that’s, I think, the whole idea behind it, just to get your body used to it.’’

(on his chemistry with Mike Richards…)
BROWN: “It was good. He’s really easy to read off of. I thought we had a lot of good chances as a line, especially early. We had that one shift, right off the bat, where we were peppering the goalie. I’m sure the next game we’ll probably get Gags [Simon Gagne] back in and we’ll work on our line chemistry. Tonight I thought it was good. Richie [Brad Richardson] filled in and I thought me and Mike had some good chemistry out there.’’

(on the power-play movement…)
BROWN: “You’ve got to take that with a grain of salt. We’ve got some different personnel this year that will help us on the PP, I think. Having said that, this was a split-squad preseason game. I don’t think that was our full power play, and that wasn’t their full PK. I think it’s just important for us to really work on it and get a hold of it. Last year, our power play was not good. We made some changes, personnel-wise, that I think are going to really help on the power play, with Richards and Gagne. It allows some guys to play, I mean, I played half-wall low a little bit, but I’m probably best in front of the net on the power play. One thing, with me and Richards, we talked about the power play and being in front of the net and just getting pucks to the net. Tonight, the goal was a result of him just flicking a puck to me, battling for it and then Slava comes in on the back side and gets the goal. I think, from out power-play standpoint, we need more of that.’’

    @Harry, Lombardi was in Phx as I understand it. So if DD walked into his office, iy was probably to steal his stapler.

    @Blueline,
    And I said, I don’t care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I’m, I’m quitting, I’m going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they’ve moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were married, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn’t bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it’s not okay because if they take my stapler then I’ll set the building on fire…

    Nice to see Browns hitting game hasn’t changed. He seems to have picked up where he left off last season with being tenacious on the puck. Exciting to think that he’ll be that good again this season, but with Gagne, and Richards added to that.

    I’m starting to think I’ll never see him with Kopi, and Penner, and that Murray won’t do it just to spite me. ;)

    @Dominick, I’m with you on the Kopi and Brown pairing, I love them together, but I think the current line-up gives the Kings better balance in terms of 1 skill-only player per line(Gagne and Williams). That leaves 2 guys who are good along the boards on each of our lines. Penner and Kopi : Richards and Brown : Clifford and Stoll. Besides we all know that with TM as head coach, every player will play with every other player at some point in the year. Remember last year in the playoffs when Westy was with Stoll and Penner? Who woulda thunk it? Not me, that’s for sure.
