Exhibition game rosters for Wednesday

The Kings’ exhibition schedule gets underway on Wednesday with two games against the Phoenix Coyotes, one at Staples Center and one at Jobing.com Arena. The line combinations and defensive pairings are only my projections. [NOTE: The game at Staples Center will be broadcast on 1150-AM and affiliates. There is no TV/webcast for any preseason games.]

    mash-ola Reply:

@KingsFanFTW, LOL Yeah, but look at the depth of this organization now! The split squad rosters look fairly deep. Win or lose, I think the Coyotes are pressed to come up with two rosters that are as competitive (on paper, of course) as the Kings.

    GO KINGS GO!

    Mitchell-Campbell

Interesting pairing. I was almost sure we’d see Mitchell with Voynov or Hickey subbing for Doughty.

    Oh right. Duh. Good call.

    Belexes Reply:

    @StillneedDewey FKA PakiFro,

Don’t read too much into it. Some of these guys will perhaps be getting their only look on this day, an early evaluation if you will. Where others that are thought to have a better shot might be waiting their turn. Still a lot of camp, and lineups to try!

    [Reply]

    puck73 Reply:

@Belexes, Totally agree with your assessment on the pairings. Although it might be wishful thinking on my part, I hope Deslauriers will get to play at least 1 game so we can see what he can do against some NHL players.

    [Reply]

    tornado12 Reply:

@StillneedDewey FKA PakiFro, I would put Mitchell with Voynov. He is the best ‘replacement’ we have for Mr Doughty at this juncture if the other pairings stay intact

@StillneedDewey FKA PakiFro, I thought the same thing when I read this.

@King Cobra, i’ve been asking around and searching and it doesn’t look to good for us. No info from lakings.com, i checked the pre-season schedule and nothing was posted in the “station/results” area. not even radio.

  10. kevin from toronto says:

Westy on the 2nd line? Whoa mama!

    [Reply]

    Gary Reply:

@kevin from toronto, just a list of line projections. 2nd and 3rd lines in LA. 1st and 4th lines in Phoenix. So, yeah, I guess, the opening night starting 4th line, is probably the “2nd line” in a split-squad pre-season game, with Westy on it.

    [Reply]

    mash-ola Reply:

@kevin from toronto, No offense, and congrats on him getting a contract extention, but Westgarth has the worst hands of stone I’ve ever seen on an NHL player. I know his role on the team, but you can’t be this long in the NHL without some sort of skillset, can you? Maybe he’s just lax in practice, but it looks like he’s actually trying to score when he sends those pucks a foot or two wide of open nets. I would prefer to see Moreau, Hunter or even Jordan Nolan there instead of Westgarth.

    [Reply]

    PRMan Reply:

@mash-ola, Ridiculous. Westy doesn’t even have the worst hands in the history of Kings’ enforcers… He’s pretty decent as huge guys go. Now Ivanans, that guy was just plain awful.

  14. Markisonfire says:

I assumed one of Hickey or Voynov would be going to Phoenix. I guess the Kings really want to see what all three (Muzzin, Hickey, and Voynov) are made of together. As an aside, I would prefer to see Hunter with Clifford and Stoll. What a third line that would be! Hunter is kind of like Simmonds without the offensive upside. Hits a ton, great character, sticks up for teammates. Sometimes it isn’t necessarily the best player, but the best fit.

    [Reply]

    dbrown23 Reply:

    @Markisonfire,

I was wondering that too. Why would they not play Muzzin, Hickey, or Voynov with Mitchell because you would assume one of the three would be a replacement for Doughty, assuming he doesn’t sign. Then i thought, well if I were Terry Murray i would want to see all three of them play in person to see who has the upper hand. More than likley this player will have to make up some offense with Doughty’s absence. Of course I am not Terry Murray but I would not be surprised to see all of them play with Drewiske, who I believe has a similar style to Mitchell, for one period each.

I think with Mitchell playing in Arizona he can help lead and teach Campbell, Mullen, and Kolomits whom I will assume will not make the team, because from what I understand from everyone else Delisauris is also pretty good.

@dbrown23, Deslauriers will be starting his 1st year in Manchester after putting up a combined plus 44 in 2 seasons at the Quebec Junior league. Hopefully we will see him in at least 1 exhibition game but we will see.

Is it me or do I NOT SEE Andreoff on either roaster?? I have watched him all through camp and the rookie camp and he has proven no wrong. He can score, he can hit, positional play, and dropped the gloves when he was challenged. He is a SPARK in the missing piece of the puzzle that the Kings need

Love that they’re playing the four top candidates to replace DD in the same game (Hickey, Voynov, Muzzin, and Drewiske)… levels the playing field quite a bit, and the LA fans get to see it as well.

Off subject, sorry to all that may be offended.
Anyone know or have family and friends in the Philly area (preferably Kings fans obviously)? I will be in Pennsylvania while the Kings are there, actually in Pittsburgh but I will make the trek to see the boys, especially since it will be Richards first game back there. Looking for a single ticket and to hang out with other Kings fan(s) or if I have to I’ll just go for it solo.

Also anyone have any extra FF tix? Looking to buy up to five or six tix.

Thanks all and looking forward to probably our best season ever!!! GKG!!!!
