Lombardi: ‘There’s no deal’

I’ll have the transcript posted ASAP, but Dean Lombardi spoke at the end of the draft today and discussed the apparent collapse of the Ryan Smyth trade with Edmonton. Lombardi did not mention Gilbert Brule’s name specifically — no tampering — but basically said the deal fell apart because it didn’t allow him enough flexibility. Meaning, essentially, that the Kings believe Brule’s concussion issues might prevent him from being bought out.

Lombardi said he would continue to talk trade and also alluded to further talks with Calgary. I’ll have more on this soon.
