Info on Kings pick Andy Andreoff (No. 80)

With their third-round pick (No. 80 overall), the Kings selected center Andy Andreoff from Oshawa of the Ontario Hockey League. Anreoff, 20, is listed at 6-foot-1 and 198 pounds, and had 33 goals and 42 assists in 66 games for the Generals last season.

Andreoff recently completed his fourth season of junior hockey. He made a jump from 48 points in 2009-10 to 75 points last season, and he’s got an edge to him as well. Andreoff totaled 109 penalty minutes this season and, according to the hockeyfights.com website, participated in 11 fights. Because of his age, Andreoff would be able to play in the AHL next season.

Click here for a story from one of the local Ottawa papers about Andreoff, in which the team’s general manager, Chris DePiero, said the following: “I’ve had a strong affinity for Andy and his play because he’s such a great kid and he works hard. I find Andy just to be one of the most reliable players we have. I can play him on the left side, at centre, right wing. He kills penalties, he’s (on the) power play. He’s just an all-around player and is getting rewarded offensively.”
