@puck73, It is worth taking a vacation day, but I agree it started out 5 days, then 4, now 2 days this year.
Rich – why the short camp this year?

@puck73, I’ll see you there if they do go on weekends. I’m tied up during the week now.

Only two days for the development camp? How fan friendly!:( It used to be a week, then it went to like four now the fans can go to two days. As already mentioned, it’s on days when most people can’t go. Wow, this organization is going downhill.

@just my opinion,
Just because the camp has been cut down in days and it’s not on a friday or saturday, does that really mean that the organization is going downhill. I don’t know if I would go that far. I guess that’s just my opinion

@spidey35,
It’s not going down hill, it’s just being smarter. They no longer need us as much as they used to. Staples is selling out now. Even our select a seat night is done on line now. That way they can save on all the hot dogs, chips & sodas they used to give away for free. And don’t get me started on all the season ticket holder benefits that have been taken away. That’s what happens when your team gets good & people start to show up.

@Howe 9,
Bingo! A winning team replaces the giveaways. Hey, I got a Robitaille signed jersey for a freebie as a season tix perk one season! They don’t need that kind of draw anymore, cuz the team is winning and doing the drawing.
Already requested July 11 off…At least I can attend the one day…It’s fun and worth taking a VC day for…

I was so annoyed about the development camp I didn’t comment on the schedule. Can you say sucks? I wonder how the Echoes of Hope charity poker game will be without the players, who will be playing the night before Frozen Fury so won’t get to the MGM early. And as far as seeing the players in Las Vegas, they will be in and out that day since they play in Europe essentially two days later. Oh, and let’s not forget the woopie thrills games in Kansas City and Hamburg. So happy they are catering to people in other areas than where there fanbase is.

@just my opinion, You care about pre-season schedules? Sorry to hear that. Besides, pre-season is a time to get the game in front of a fan-base, or market, that does not regularly get to opportunity to see live NHL games. Thus the push into Europe and smaller-market cities like KC and LV.

@Daniel, with what I’ve read around the net and heard on the TV, I understand there are a few teams in deep trouble, and since I’m an old school kinda guy, or an old bull, rather then go looking for the one night stand in another country I think they should stay here and take care of the folks that are footing part of the bills, it’s tuff playing in front of 18,000 empty seats. Take care of the home front first, what are they going to do move the Panthers to Germany??? The Euros can barely support a small pro league if at all, they have to get private party’s to foot the pay for the players. I have some friends who played in the British Elite League. The powers to be cry about the teams in the NHL that are hurting but I guess it has gotten so big now that they really don’t care, they’ll go through the facade of being upset but behind the closed doors they wring their hands because of the money they’ll get from a city that wants to pick up a franchise.
Just my opinion.

@just my opinion,
You do have a point about the Kings playing the day before. I have never been to a Frozen Fury game before, and was looking forward to going for the first time, with some Kingsfans in Vegas, having fun. I heard the players make themselves available during the day, to hang out and meet the fans.

@KC23, wish the mgm had a larger sheet of ice……….. they just seem too bump into each other. maybe they could play the whole game 4 on 4………… wishfull thinking i know………
Rich,
Last year we had limited coverage of development camp, with just a handful of interviews if I remember correctly. If you can swing it I’d love to see expanded coverage this year with some more in-depth coverage that included assessments of the prospects. For those of us that can’t make it your our eyes and ears man.
Also, can you find out if any of those pre-season games will be streaming online?
As always, thanks Hammer! (just saw that nickname used, its too good not to rip off)
[Reply]
I’m assuming none of these games will be televised right?

I hope Europe doesn’t set us back too far. We’re in a frisky conference.

@Hesperia STH, I think Chara was asked about this and he mentioned how starting in Europe, helped the team get much closer and that helped them throughout the season, as witnessed by carrying the cup. One of the big deals that DL brings up is how much of a team he wants the Kings to be and how close they are, this is a way to do that.

@Jeff,
Don’t forget AEG owns the arena over there also, what, the O2 Arena? That’s the main reason.
Hey Rich are you coming also coming to Hamburg? Would be so awesome to see you there!!

@Nickdoh, AGREED! The Kings had the preseason game against the Sharks two years ago at CB Bank Arena and it was awesome! Rich, any insight as to why the Kings aren’t scheduling a game in Ontario?
[Reply]
It is a load of crap that the Kings have to play both in Kansas City and in Europe this season. Screw Anschutz and his stupid arenas. I say give them both the big double middle finger and say “No Thanks, we will play in LA only.”
