The Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors, with Kings prospect Maxim Kitsyn, boosted their Memorial Cup chances last night with a 2-1 victory over the Kootenay Ice in round-robin play. Kootenay took a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal, 7:55 into the first period, but Kitsyn tied the game for Mississauga just 1:23 later with an even-strength goal, and Mississauga scored the winning goal with 8:09 remaining in regulation.
Halfway through round-robin play in the four-team junior tournament, Owen Sound and Saint John are both 1-0, and they play each other tonight. Mississauga is 1-1 and Kootenay is 0-2. Mississauga finishes round-robin play on Wednesday against Owen Sound.
Hey Rich, Please stay and play in Manchester for a year Kitsyn!

@Ravens, He made a comment about finishing his obligations to his KHL team but I think he also still has 1 more year of junior eligibility . . .

@Ravens, Not a bad idea because if Terry Murray has his way, he will try and turn him into a muck and grinder and zap all the offensive creativity out of him ! lol

@BrokeKingsFan, You also can’t forget how much weaker the East is than the West. One reason Purcell, Moulson, and Boyle might be seeing more success is that they are playing against weaker opponents.

@BrokeKingsFan, Will, totally agree about that, the east is much weaker than the west right now

@Paul G, I think it is funny how many on here complain about TM. Don’t get me wrong part of what makes this site great is the varying opinions / perspectives. I just doubt we would be hearing many complaints about TM’s system destroying the offensive creativity of players if the Kings had made a deeper run using the same system. I wish TM would be a little more vocal and assertive. He is a solid coach though. A long way from the worst this team has ever seen.

Playoff system SUCKS!!!! Hate that it has to be East VS. West all the time in finals. Old system better; you see different teams possible both west coast teams in THE FINALS. Besides I feel alot of the East teams didn’t deserve to go to the playoff while some of the West teams did.
Kitsyn looked pretty big, and pretty fast, and very good along the wall. A lot like Frolov actually. His goal was legit, he scored after getting knocked down driving the net.
He could be a player some day, and whether he learns in the KHL or AHL, this was a good 6th round pick. If he goes to the KHL, he does not cost the Kings and money toward the salary cap.

while I agree he seems to have the skill and moves the puck well, watched the game against Kootney, he isn’t very active.
He did generate at least one other scoring chance for himself.
But spent long streaches on the bench in favor of the Ducks draft choice Something-Smith.
But the goal he scored is definately a Terry Murray type goal…Garbage.

@GrapevineKingsFan,
TM will crush and suppress every bit of skill and creativity this guy has and will turn him into a schmuck. Hope TM is gone by the time he is trying to make the team
