Kings holding their `aces’ for now

Dean Lombardi said that the Kings will not yet call up any “Black Aces” from the AHL, but didn’t rule it out for the future. That makes sense, given that the Kings have a morning skate tomorrow and, if they win, Game 7 would be in San Jose. It stands to reason that the Kings would reevaluate if they should advance to the second round and, therefore, get more practice time at home.

So what you’re saying here is that the Kings will probably call up some Black Aces for the second round. And that’s the story I’m sticking to.

anyone know if there is a hotel within walking distance of Staples?

    Kings Girl Reply:

@Happy Lappy, I don’t think there are any within walking distance… and if there are, you probably wouldn’t want to stay in them. Staples is in the heart of downtown and when you get outside the LA live area, it’s not the nicest area.

@Kings Girl, Guess you haven’t been there in a while. Yes there are two new luxury hotel skyscrapers next to the nokia theater. Can’t remember what their names are. But they rebuilt the downtown area next to staples. Outside of that, yeah not real nice.

@Kings Girl, hotel figueroa is one big blk north of staples.. stayed there and it’s nice and affordable. awesome bar area with a great poolside outdoor area. there is a holiday INN across the street from Staples but it’s not as nice IMHO and lacks character..

I grew up in LA, so that’d be my choice if you were my sister or cousin..
Hyatt, The Standard are close(within 6-8 city blks) but not worth the mula.

hope this helps GO KINGS GO!!

@Kings Girl, J.W. Marriott and the Ritz Carlton are just across the street and the Figueroa is just a block East on Fig. All nice places, Marriott and Ritz share the same property.

@EASportsMgt, I have a room booked at the Marriott on 333 Figuroa, she said it was a mile from the Staples center, $179 for dbl. bed. Is that the same as the JW Marriott? Is it a safe mile walk?

@Happy Lappy, That’s not the Marriott at LA Live I don’t think.

@LittleRhody, I believe its LUXE or something obnoxious like that. Theres also Hotel Figueroa and The O Hotel

    Stats1 Reply:

@Happy Lappy, The Holiday Inn was sold last fall, and is now a Luxe hotel. There is also a JW Marriott and a Ritz Carlton at LA Live; but they are pretty pricey. Not sure about the pricing at the Luxe.

    Capt Jam Reply:

    @Happy Lappy,

The Holiday Inn is now called the Luxe Hotel, but your best bet is to go to Priceline. There are almost always great room rates there for downtown L.A. on the bidding side of that site.

    [Reply]

    Happy Lappy Reply:

@Capt Jam, thanks Cap’t. you were right on, the Luxe, I got it for $109 + $25 for parking, they wanted $169, I said I would look around and she offered $109 SWEET!

    [Reply]

    Shotongoal Reply:

@Happy Lappy, the Luxe is nice since the renovation and the parking price is par for the course down there. Don’t sweat the remarks about it not being safe, maybe 10 years ago, but now its really nice downtown around the Staples Center area. Have fun! I’ll in my spot 214-8-3/4.

    Lexigirl Reply:

@Happy Lappy, the JW Marriott and THe Ritz Carlton are both at LA Live, which is rolling distance more less walking distance.

@Happy Lappy, For the record….Any hotel that is considered located in Downtown Los Angeles is within walking distance of Staples Center. I always stay at the Bonaventure. It is a 15 minute walk and it is a LA landmark. But the LUXE and the others mentioned are closer. If that matters. GO KINGS!

    Yeah, I admit it … I’m a dreamer.

If Hawks beat Vancouver (doubt it) and we beat SJ (also doubt it) we would get the winner of Ducks Preds series (probably Preds) and Hawks would play Detroit.

Detroit very possibly beat Hawks (possible). Kings possibly beat Preds or Ducks (possible).

Kings play Detroit to get to the cup (possible).

    Yep, I know I’m dreamin. :)

Off topic, and maybe I’m way late to the party, but I just realized the Kings & Ducks could meet in the 2nd round. A lot has to happen, but it’s been a strange playoff season.

    Chicago has to beat Vancouver
    Anaheim has to beat Nashville
    Kings have to beat SJ

    The seeds left would be:
    3 Detroit
    4 Anaheim
    7 Los Angeles
    8 Chicago

    3 vs 8
    4 vs 7

Both of those series would be EPIC if they happen. The Vegas odds would be less than 1%, but it’s been a strange year in hockey. I’m not counting out anything.

  12. Steven Jaime says:

FIf we pull off the Improbable. ….. not Impossible.
And Chicago can do the same. Hawks and Bucks tied @ 3 headed to OT. So the hawks are 1 goal away from game 7. They are also one goal away from SEASON OVER.

The Preds knocked the ducks out today. So that part is taken care of
If somehow the Kings and Hawks can take care of business. Then we could get the matchup I have been hoping for. I really would like to see the Kings and Preds go at it. Nashville has been scary good of late. I think the Kings match up well with the Preds. …. and actually with Detroit too. Quick has been Ninja like against the Wings. If we can win one at the Stapler. Then I likeour chances in game 7 and round 2.. I am very pesimistic about game 6 at home. Who knows! maybe the Kings have paid attention to the heart,
hussle, hope, and never die attitude. The unlikeliest of things can happen if you play with passion. Play with pride. Play for yourself, play for your
teammates, play for your fans, play so hard that you
intimidate your opponent. Channel the fears of elimination
and your season ending. Turn those fears into whatever it
takes to survive in the playoffs for just one more day. Turn
the fear into energy, determination, grit, desperation. Let
the fear make you all heroes.

I spent nearly 20 years in the Army and had the honor of
Deplllg to combat 8 times. It is a bit cliche, but one of the
greatest lessons I learned is EVERYBODY is scared when they
are placed in a situation that has an outcome that with such
consequence and Finality for the loser. The point is fear can be a good thing. As long as an individual or team doesn’t get
so wrapped up in being scared of what may come that it
affects the way they operate, communicate, or perform. It
can be a major asset and help in defeating complacenc

Both heroes and cowards live with fear. Cowards succom to
pressure and stress. Whereas heroes take control of their fear. They use it to their advantage to accomplish the task
that lie ahead. The success of the team takes priority above
all else, and they fight through adversity. Watch over the members of the team, and fight for the guys to their left and
    right.

So go on already Kings. Start strong….. finish alive.

@Steven Jaime, With the amount of young talent on the Kings that are untested in a playoff situation, it’s clear that the fear and the nerves are getting to them, but like you said, they are using it. Look at Clifford, he’s been a rockstar who just so happens to be an untested rookie. Let’s use this momentum, and bring it to the Staples Center with pride. Let’s make the so called NHL analysts eat their words and push this series to game 7.
