Scouting the Sharks

Will the Kings follow the Tampa Bay Lighting or the New York Rangers? Tampa Bay won Game 5 on the road today to stay alive in its series, while New York bowed out of its series in a Game 5 on the road. Thus far in these playoffs, teams facing elimination have a 3-2 record. The Kings, rather improbably, have totaled 14 points in four games but are still on the brink of summer vacation. On the other hand, the league announced today that if the series goes to a Game 6, it will start at 7 p.m. on Monday at Staples Center. For the latest on the Sharks, who are expected to make any lineup changes tonight, here’s a couple stories, followed by the expected lineups for the Sharks and the Kings…

Marc-Edouard Vlasic also dealing with the death of his grandfather this week (San Jose Mercury News)

Glad to see the NHL is limiting our fans being able to get to the game on time by starting the potential game 6 at 7:00. Thanks NHL. Mabye we should force Gary Betteman to try and get to a game in LA at 7:00 with the great traffic we have.
PS. Rich, I think you’re missing the word “not” in the sentence “For the latest on the Sharks, who are “not” expected to make any lineup changes tonight”.

let’s put on our best game faces on tonight in hopes it will genuflect and infuse our beloved kings…if the players need anything to play for, for this game, i hope they use the motivation they used during their youth: play hard because you love the game…you respect the game…you respect your teammates…and you respect yrself…be a professional…

has anyone else notice that the Coach(tm)mentions the Kings have Kopi missing in every interview since we lost game 3????

    [Reply]

    CB14 Reply:

@neil, I have, it’s not surprising considering he’s trying to keep his job and all. Kopi being out gives him an excuse for losing in the first round of the playoffs just like last year. I really hope DL, and Luc don’t buy it.

These pundits/talking heads flip flop more than John Kerry on who is doing good and who isn’t.

Even heard Pierre McGuire call 2 of the Washington defensemen the best pair in the league. Of course he’d say that…if he was in LA he’d say that about JMFJ and DD.

  17. Spanky says:

What’s so scary is that this serious could easily….easily be 3-1 Kings. 1 OT loss that could have gone another way; another OT loss that shouldn’t have been; and the domination in game 3. The Sharks are good, but they’re not that good. It’s all about the team’s composure tonight. Letting one in won’t be the end of the world. But when they’re scrambling and getting dumb penalties,it’ll be much harder.

3-2 Kings Win (in OT, just to make it sweeter).

    [Reply]

    System Wins Reply:

@Spanky, way to put things in perspective. Penalties o.k. dumb penalties not o.k. Our captain led our dumb penalty parade to the box in the first and it continued to the second. Now may our captain lead us to good hard nose hockey in this game.

    [Reply]

    Spanky Reply:

    @System Wins,

Brown’s hard to read. He’s always throwing the body, which is great, but me thinks that his “balls out” style may not be good for offensive production. Let’s hope he turns it on and makes some of his nice power moves.
