No surprises or changes coming out of today’s morning skate. Jonathan Quick gets the start in goal, and according to reports, the Sharks seem to be leaning toward going back to Antti Niemi. Lots of talk, on the Kings’ side, about improving faceoff percentage tonight. More notes and quotes to come…

He sucks, kings are up 3-0 with Bernier in net. The only good thing that will come out of these playoffs if we lose in round one, is the Kings have to make the switch to Bernier next year.

SJ is a as everyone has been saying a “run and gun” team, meaning they like making a fast break for the odd man rush. Bernier would not be able to keep up, he is way too slow side to side, and cannot handle fast rushes. Berniers play this season was OK at its best, what did you see in his play that could justify anything you said?

You guys are all freakn hillarious. I guess it was the defenses fault 2 he was double stacking his pads looking like Kelly Hrudey b4 the shot was even taken on the 4th goal when Boyle noticed and just passed it off to Clowe for the easy goal. GOALIES NEED TO MAKE BIG SAVES and in that game Quick made none. I guess it wasn’t his fault last year either in game 4 when we had it all won and wrapped up and he collapsed, lets blame Frolov’s breakaway. I guess game 5 last year when he ate 6 goals and got pulled wasn’t his fault either.
Okay so Niemi isn’t great and we all know this. Last year he happened to play Vancouver and San Jose in the playoffs. Lets take a look. He Gave up 25 goals in 10 games. 2.5 GAA, not even including the overtime periods which would further drop his GAA or any empty netters that might of been scored. Oh yeah, Chicago doesn’t sit back and try to win 2-1 games either.
Furthermore, yes he has a large amount of wins but yes 10 of those this year are SHOOTOUT wins and someone can look into last year and see how many Shootout wins we had. Can you say ASTERISK? Plus the dude is inconsistent and is constantly eating soft goals. Even in game 1 he had a nice assist with that rebound he fed Danny Heatley for the 1st goal and the 2nd goal was just SOFT and whoever doesn’t think so doesn’t watch enough hockey. Yes game 2 he didn’t have to do much and he did get a shutout, I’ll give him props because he doesn’t always make the easy saves. Game 3 was a mess for the team but Quick was ALL OVER THE PLACE swimming like Michael Phelps, double stacking his PADS like Kelly Hrudey and he had no control whatsover. Bernier has a calming presence on a team and I still think if Bernier was in net, Kings win that game 5-2 or 5-3.

@Alen, Will agree about last year Vs Vancouver. Quick didn’t come up big when we needed him most. This year I can’t put it on Quick at all. It’s been our forwards getting beat bad.
All that being said I tend to agree that Bernier, in the end, will likely end up the better goalie. Just not his time yet though and it would really kill the locker room if Quick got yanked before proving wihtout a shadow of a doubt that he can’t handle the playoffs. My opinion will largely ride on the remainder of this series.
Stuart Reply:

@Alen, and the 2x stack goal you’re referring to came after about >50 seconds of mad scrambling by all of our players…that shift was destined to end in twine.
I’m still not happy with Murray, but nothing to be done about it ’till this year is over.
However, if Penner is into his cruisin’ the ice mode again tonight, Coach, please send him down to the 4th line. Move Poni up.
And please, please roll four lines for the whole game. Attack the Sharks’ legs. Wear them out.

@KingsFanFTW,
I dont get these comments.
San Jose’s timeout did nothing to help the team. Kings scored two more goals.
Pulling the SJ goalie after the fourth goal was a no-brainer, not a genius move.
Now, when did you want to pull Quick? At the end of the second period? Bad move, Quick played great in the third and the OT.
Should you pull Quick after the third goal. I dont think so and the Kings came back and scored 15 seconds later. Sounds like a great coaching decision there.
Should you pull Quick after the fourth goal. Maybe, but there was only a minute and a half left in the period. Or maybe the timeout here. But come on it was already a new game at 5-4

@this conversation, maybe he could’ve pulled JQ in the 2nd to shake up the team, but then gone back to him in the 3rd. That’s the only reasonable thing I can see with pulling JQ. It wasn’t his fault, yet it would shake the team up at that moment and he could get back in there in the 3rd. I’m sure TM could’ve sent JK down the bench to say “hey kid we know it’s not your fault but its easier to change 1 guy and not 10, you’ll be back into start the 3rd, so be ready!”

We should of kept Frolov, he got thrown under the bus by management and some dumb fans that just repeated what they read from Murry/Lombardi. Lombardi good at drafting, bad with FA’s and trades. Murrays system is awful for creative offensive players( See Purcell and Boyle) No sniper will sign here while he is coach and if we have one in the minors he will be stiffled by this 1980′s system.

The other night was different. Didn’t here anyone booing the King’s despite the total collaspe in the 2nd period. That made me very proud of my fellow King’s fans. They got a great cheer going into the 3rd period. I’m thinking the fans will be up again for tonights game, maybe even more so.

Matt Barnaby (ESPN) is saying that Kings are done…too demoralizing of a loss for them to come back from. Barney’s full of it.
Kings can (and will) rebound. The real issue in this series is for the Sharks, they pulled Niemi and goaltending might be shakey. Pressure is still on San Jose to preform. Kings choked in one, but Sharks will choke in 7.

I think the key tonight is NEMO!!! If he’s in net we need to get quality chances on him (not just chances)…traffic make him still feel uneasy, don’t let him get back into a rhythm. @KingsFanFTW, I usually get worried with certain goaltenders against the Kings. This guy has looked very beatible every night!! The kings can beat him!! He’s not going to get better. If they go with the other guy we may be in trouble!
