Sharks 6, Kings 3

San Jose’s third goal of the third period came with 8:18 remaining. Kyle Wellwood’s shot from the high slot was saved, but Quick couldn’t control the rebound and Torrey Mitchell went to the front of the net and scored from close range to give the Sharks a 6-2 lead.

The Kings made it a 6-3 game with 6:49 remaining, when Jack Johnson’s slap shot from the left point was deflected by Alexei Poinikarovsky and past Niemi. Trevor Lewis also picked up an assist.

Rich I don’t think the puck ever made it to Quick, it looked to me like it hit DD’s skate, then went to Mitchell. I could be wrong though.

Hate to say it people, but it is time to tear this team down and rebuild. I know I am gonna catch some flak, but I personally believe Doughty is the next Dion Phaneuf. He should be traded while other teams would gladly overpay for him! I might be wrong, but he just doesnt show any maturity
    -
Course DL will probably go out this summer and overpay for a bunch of 3-4 liners/grinders. 31 disappointing years and counting. I miss Wayne Gretzky!

    Kevin Reply:

@Bluecoconuts, shortcuts? We have been “rebuilding” for over 5 years. This is the team we have to show for it? I guess I just am not seeing any potential here. Not trying to be negative, but when you havent won a playoff series since 1993, its hard. Remember, DL “promised” a contender in 5 years when he arrived. We are nowhere near there…….

    [Reply]

    Bluecoconuts Reply:

@Kevin, This isn’t the team we’re building though. The team we’re building has Schenn, Loktionov, Toffoli, Vey, etc etc. The guys are there you just gotta let them develop. To trade away guys would be to start over. The rebuild plan isn’t over yet. We have the core, the rest will come soon.

    Danny Reply:

@Kevin, You do know our best player is not playing right.

    tacomakingsfan Reply:

@Kevin, So you would like to see him mature on another team?
    That would be silly.. imho..

    [Reply]

    rabidhockeyfan Reply:

@Kevin, I’m not sure I agree with the dismantling of the team. I think the coaching staff needs to go. If we lose on Saturday, TM and Kompon need to be sent packing! TM has really showed where he is in the last two games and the for that point, throughout the season.

    [Reply]

    number 6 Reply:

    @rabidhockeyfan,

Thing that concerns me is that ….. for a Defensive minded coach, his players can’t seem to get it done in the post season and I’m not talking about winning even. If you count the last game last year – out of FIVE post season games they’ve given up 7, 6 and 6. One loss in OT (3-2) and one win 4-0.

    [Reply]

    Kevin Reply:

@rabidhockeyfan, Agree, but DL has stated TM is “his man” and will not let him go. Hate to say it, we are stuck with TM for the long haul, even though he is a joke of a coach

    [Reply]

    therocknroll80s Reply:

@Kevin, Why don’t we all get together, pool our money, and buy the team. Then we can pick our GM, our coach and our style of play.

  33. Kyle says:

Ok explain this (and yes you gotta ask kompon about this)—5 on 3. We have 3 players up high at the blue line and 2 down low. That is inexplicable. No wonder shots cannot get through — there’s 3 sharks free to block shots and clear rebounds. We didn’t do a blessed thing to get the penalty killers moving.

    [Reply]

  34. mikey says:

please we have 3 kings guarding one guy every time. REPEATEDLY the backside shark is standing next to quick planning out his breakfast the next morning waiting for the puck to slide past quick. They are playing sloppy and scared. Sitting in the 300s our section is calling out the goals 5-8 seconds before they happen cause we watch the kings slide away from a player every single time.

And dont even get me started on Penner. At this point i think i would rather have have Eric Lindros after the 33rd concussion out there instead of him….
