Mitchell postgame quotes

Willie Mitchell’s postgame thoughts…

(on the game…)
MITCHELL: “It’s a long year. You play hard. You train hard. You travel together, room together and do all those things. You want success, because you look across the room and you see that the other guy wants success as well. That’s who you play for, is your teammates. Absolutely. It’s your teammates, who are striving to reach the same goal. The last two games are not games that we like. We’ve got to go up there and win one in San Jose and put the pressure back on them.”

(on where the game turned…)
MITCHELL: “They scored a couple big goals on the 4-on-4 to get things going, a couple back-to-back, and then followed it up with a power-play goal. We battled back. We just had some missed coverages again. I don’t know. It’s tough.”

    ‘We’ve got to go up there and win’

    When Willie says this, he is seeing this as if He is on the outside of it, like it’s not necessarily possible. AGAIN, this is a view into the mentality of this team. Mitchell is a nails heart and soul guy. I would never question that. The MENTALITY of his statement is what is troubling.

    I’ll take this a step further. When he say “You look across the room and see the other guy wants success too”, again an acknowledgement from the outside of it. If everyone on this team sees it, which I’m sure they absolutely do, the who is the one leading them to DO something about it.

    Can you see the point I’m trying to make here?

    @Cynic,

    Should be the captain who has not been playing very well the last 2 games.

    He sounds lost for words, and at least I appreciate that more than a bunch of platitudes.

    It’s a sad night for us all, but most of all for the team. It’s not like they didn’t try their best. One more push on Saturday, let’s bring the game back home and win the long shot.

    Mitchell must not be sitting across the room from Dustin Penner.

    GReminds me of the Vancouver series again. Ohh, well.. One thing left to say, “Game, Set, Match. Series Over”. Let look forward to next year everyone. Hopefully with a different result and not choke again!!! Have a great summer. Golf course here we come. :)

    @PurpleNGold,

    I wouldn’t count them out just yet… they have shown the ability to bounce back when their backs are against the wall all season. They actually play more focused and composed on the road so I would be surprised if we don’t come back for game 6 on Monday.

    3 game winning streak, no biggie :-)
