Williams postgame quotes

Justin Williams’ postgame thoughts…

(on the game…)
WILLIAMS: “You take away a lot of positives from tonight. They came out they way we thought they would, as can be expected in Game 1 of the start of the playoffs. They came out rowdy. They came out with their fans behind them and got an early goal, which is exactly what we didn’t want. We stuck with it, and throughout the latter part of the game, we started to pick it up and kind of take it to them a little bit. Really, in overtime it’s anyone’s game. We had some chances, they had some chances and they ended up winning. But as I said before the game, if you win this, you can’t get too high, and we’re not going to get too low right now. We played well. we came up short, but that just makes the second game a little bit more important.”

(on his game, and his expectations for himself…)
WILLIAMS: “I wasn’t off for very long. I was only off the ice for a couple weeks, so I knew that I would have my legs. I knew that I would have some jump in my legs, which would be important for avoiding checks. I was able to do some things and feel more comfortable as the game went on.”

@Scot, He surpassed all expectations and I thought he really helped settle the Kings offense into a nice rhythm. He was one of the Kings’ stars tonite, no doubt about it. Any Patrick O’Sullivan fans/JW doubters still in the building???

Very proud of the effort tonite after starting off a little shaky. If they put in this kind of effort, they have a good chance of making this a long series.

The Kings lost game one last season to Vantown, but came back strong in game 2. Let’s hope they can repeat this weekend in SJS.

    GO KINGS GO!

@mash-ola, they lost game 1 to Vancouver last year by a score of 3-2 in OT, and Zeus narrowly missed scoring the game winner before they lost. They’ve been here before.

@Scot, he was our best player for sure and didn’t look scared to go into the corners and take a hit.

He is a leader and he showed it tonight.

Rest up JW. We need you on Saturday….BTW anyone else think that Niemi looked average and quite shaky tonite? Almost felt like Nabby was still in goal.

    @SaveByCechmanek,
Yeah totally agree, especially in OT, he was a little bit awkward at times. I take a lot of positives out of the game.

Dude, nothing to be ashamed about tonight. THANK YOU for working so hard to get back for the playoffs! You made a real difference and the boys are rallying around having you back. You can see it in their play. Your dangles in the o-zone give them time to set up.

Guarantee the Sharks are thinking WAY too much right now about how the Kings played them tonight. Just need one of two from the first two for a positive result.

I thought the majority of the team played quite well tonight. Our PK was solid and our PP looked pretty good on the first one, but no goal. Overall this was a solid game. Really impressed with Westy and Williams.

Williams your the man, great game and glad to have you back.

Williams was the best player on the ice for the Kings. Quick was awesome. Poni and Westgarth also had very good games. The Richie-Clifford-Simmonds line was great and should have won the game in OT. Instead Simmonds and Martinez brain farted and the game was lost. Kings proved that they came to play, and theyre not going to be such an easy opponent.
