Stoll postgame quotes

Jarret Stoll’s postgame thoughts…

(on keeping composure after the early goal…)
STOLL: “It was probably the worst situation possible, for a start. The building was going crazy. We had a lot of guys that were playing their first-ever playoff games, and the fire drill was on, for sure. We just tried to stay calm on the bench and just getting pucks in, keep shooting pucks in on their D, being physical and just having a north attitude with the puck. It slowly, slowly turned, and we started getting our game. We started getting our legs and we started finding our game. A lot of good things, a lot of positives out of tonight’s game.”

(on his hit on White…)
STOLL: “He was a little low there. I don’t know what he was doing, if he was reaching for a puck or what. He was right against the boards, too, and he was a little low. I just finished my check on him, and it ended up pretty bad for him. I hope he’s all right. You hate to see a guy get hurt, regular season or playoffs. I definitely wasn’t trying to hurt him.”

(on whether he’s worried about a suspension…)
STOLL: “I have no idea. I don’t now. There wasn’t a penalty on the call, so I’m not expecting anything.”

(on the intensity of overtime…)
STOLL: “We were going after it. Both teams were going hard and laying it all out there. There was a lot of battling going on, a lot of physical play. It was fun. It was just a fun game to be a part of. It’s tough that we lost it, but we’ve got to stay even-keel and don’t get too down. We did a lot of positive things in this game. After the first minute, with them scoring, it was a nightmare situation, and we got composed. We figured it out, we started moving the puck and getting it in deep and going after them. A lot of positives to go after for Game 2.”

At least 1 game suspension and wouldn’t be shocked if he got more. How he gets nothing though!

I didn’t think the hit looked bad, like he said White was low.

Stolls right..white ducked..dunno what he was thinking..he saw, knew stoll was coming in fast.

@kingsalltheway, He clearly leads with his elbow so it didn’t master if the player leaves himself open for that Stoll has to be smarter than that!

    Osaka Reply:

@TD, No the elbow was to go into White’s back, White bent down. Nothing wrong with the hit.

    @kingsalltheway,
There’s no way he saw Stoll coming. It was a hit from behind. It was a blindside hit and his elbow hit White in the back of the head. I see a 2 game suspension for this.

@MysticMarine, Maybe he didn’t see him but he should have. The elbow across his head was to go to White’s back, so he wouldn’t hit him as hard into the glass. I’ve done that a thousand times. If he leads with the shoulder or hip it is a much harder hit.

    Stoll escapes with nothing.

Stoll I hope your around for the next game. A hard hit is still a hard hit in the playoffs. Where is Penner when you hit that dude, Penner went the other way to hide. We seemed to have lost this guy. Penner is not a King yet. He has not proven to any of us that he was worth the trade we made for him. Stoll if you could can you please hit him like you hit dude tonight. Shake that boy up. He has played poorly ever since landing in LA. I’m pissed, because everyone of the Kings are playing with a heart of gold, bit Penner looks as if his heart is lost. Shape up Penner. Try hitting someone. Your bigger then most of the guys on the ice. Hitting smaller people could be fun, just ask your team mate Stoll

Ha ha ha@ ‘hitting smaller people could be fun’…maybe Penners just a big teddy bear…big and cuddly and harmless

    kinginsaltlake Reply:

@kingsalltheway, Heck that would be me, but still I would want to play with the same amount of heart as my teammates play with. Are you as mad at Penner as I am, Or do you think that he is still learning our system? Just Asking.

@kinginsaltlake, Kinda reminds me of how Bertuzzi played after the suspension he got, afraid to touch anyone, I agree with you he doesnt seem interested in even being there.

@kinginsaltlake, Penner is not a physical player, never has been.

@kinginsaltlake, you’ve gotta give the guy some slack. You gotta remember that he came from a wide open system in Edmonton, and was suddenly thrust into a defensive responsibility system with new players that he hasn’t played with. Hes thinking too much out there, hence the clueless skating in circles, the “I dont want to hit someone and get out of position” random skating. I’ve seen quite a few games from him, trust me when I say this, it may not be this year, but he will be WELL worth the trade.

  8. Dillon says:

Yeah people who think he deserves a suspension are nuts. It’s the playoffs, he’s not a repeat offender, White really got into a weird position, Stoll did let up about 50%. It wasn’t a hard hit, or a nasty one, White just seemed to get hit in a bad place, bad spot. Unfortunate, unlucky, but no intent, and he even let up a bit. Should be no suspension.

@Dillon, WHITE’S FAULT!!! Look at the replay…if he is suspended, that is terrible because he put himself in that position…SJ can bitch all they want. GO KINGS!!!!

I was somewhat surprised to see the Penner Lewis Westgarth line still going deep in OT. And they didn’t hand over the game. But what do we call that? Two heavy weights joined by a stick… Dumbell Line??

Missed the hit on tv (when will beers be larger than freakin 12 ounces?!?!?) but he will be suspended and here’s why: he plays for el lay! Have we ever not been given the shaft by the league? 1 game maybe 2. Thank god it wasn’t on ovechkin or it’d be 10 plus games.

In the words of one of my former coaches, ” if you’re gonna hit em’, hit ‘em’ hard!”

    amen

Hey, let’s call it even. I haven’t heard one comment on the hit Smith took by I forget who, but the guy clearly left his feet and lead with his elbow right into Smith’s face and there wasn’t even a penalty called. If they suspend Stoll they need to suspend him too, unless San Jose was a Canadian Team than they can do whatever they want…

@scott343, dude!!! I was totally scrolling through comments and going to bring up exactly what you just mentioned!!! Not only left his feet, he almost jumped over the glass! That was a BS no call even if it was late in the 3rd!!! You have to make that call, he’s head hunting a very respected individual (and unfortunatley that stuff gets taken into acount usually unless said individual is wearing a Kings jersey I guess)!!

I just wish it was Marleu and not White!!!

I hate [sharks] Chuck, I HATE ‘em!!!
