By virtue of Detroit’s regulation win over Chicago, the Kings will finish seventh in the Western Conference and face second-seeded San Jose in the first round of the playoffs, starting either Wednesday or Thursday. Here’s how the season series between the Kings and Sharks went…

Jan. 1 in Los Angeles: Sharks 1, Kings 0
Jan. 26 in Los Angeles: Kings 3, Sharks 2 (SO)
March 24 in Los Angeles: Kings 4, Sharks 3 (SO)
