After last night’s game, Terry Murray said he had not yet decided whether to start Jonathan Quick or Jonathan Bernier tonight against Anaheim. The game still has significance for the Kings, given that they can finish anywhere from fourth to eighth, and the Kings will have at least three days between games after tonight. Based on that, who should start?
It doesn’t matter who you start tonight. bernier has come in after being off for a longer stretch than he currently has been benched for, and has still won for the kings. that’s why i say if you’re going with quick as your #1 during the first round, give him a one day break. but it really makes no difference except in the mind of the coach

Don’t care how well JB has been playing since the All-Star break. In this situation you go with your #1.
That being said, I have the upmost confidence in JB is he gets the nod.

@AZ King, Word! I go with Quick, he is our number one and you don’t want him
Sitting too long. This is a playoff type game and you want your number one to get into the rythim.

@Nitrohockey, somebody’s fantasy team got an unexpected boost

Quick will start if he’s healthy imho and its the right call (although I would of used Bernier yesterday … said that before yesterday’s game btw).

@KC23,
Yup. My thoughts exactly.
Also, Bernier is much better with his stick so he might have helped the PP and the offense a bit last night.

@FKA PakiFro, Nah, imho Bernier would of lost maybe even by the same score.

The natural response is to go with Bernie because Quick lost and it’s a back-to-back…..
But the next game is a PLAYOFF game and you typically don;t want your Playoff goalie resting much on his way in and disturb his rhythm.
I voted for Quick….but at the risk of making Rich’s head explode, I have a STAT question:
What is Jonathon Quick’s record in games played this year AFTER Bernier plays the game before?
That could make me change my mind…..
[Reply]
Tough choice. Let’s hope TM is confident with his choice.

Quick is, of course, my favorite goalie. But I voted for Bernie. I think Bernie needs to get a bit more experience in before the playoffs, and this is his last chance. I don’t want him to have had too much time sitting on his duff when the playoffs happen. Quick can’t carry the team to the Cup by himself.
[Reply]
Rich, any news on Brownie status? Also could you please give us an update on JW, will he be available during the 1st round of the playoffs? Thx
[Reply]
Quick on goal for sure. He’ll beat himself up a couple of times because he couldn’t stop Teemu last night and as a result, Kings win 1-0.

Go with Quick. If, for nothing else, fan appreciation day. Give him the final regular season game and let him show his appreciation to the fans by blanking the Sucks tonight! I will understand if Bernier plays, but I think you give the nod to Quicker and keep his mojo going in to the playoffs next week.
By the way, I love Quick as the “underdog” in the playoffs. When this kid has something to prove, he usually comes up big.
GO KINGS! Let’s end the regular season on a great note!!!

Let’s put it this way, if the game goes into a shootout I want Quick in net. And given how the game was played last night that is a very high possibility.
If we can pick up the win tonight and end up facing Nashville or Phoenix in the first round I would argue that one or two of those games would be the perfect opportunity to give Bernier the start and Quick a rest.
Not that I have anything against Bernier (he’s been playing very well as of late), but this game is too important to not start our #1.

@JonTheAnt,
Exactly!!! There’s no way you can pull Bernier and throw in Quick for a shootout, so you have to start Quick!

id love to see bernie get the nod but i have a feeling TM will go with quicker. he played a good game last night.
i think we need to bench kompon, so we can score on a friggin PP now and then. if we got 1 PP goal last night the game goes to OT.
[Reply]
Quick in goal, Bernier 1st line center.
Maybe he can get a couple past their 3rd string goalie..
Go Kings Go..

Quick in goal and can you put up date of brown is he gunna play 2night
[Reply]
Go with Quick. No brainer. He played well, and the Kings need him sharp. Then go with Bernier in the 1st game of the playoffs to throw whomever we play off. They’ll never see it coming.
[Reply]
By his logic, he should be going with Quick. However, he probably should have played Bernier last night and Quick tonight.
Just sayin’.

@What’s the frequency, Kenneth?, Fore sure. That would have been better. Can’t be mad with Quick’s low GAA though. Just would have been nice to have Bernier ready to jump in after Quick get’s pulled in game one against VAN. j/k KEEP THE FAITH.

@What’s the frequency, Kenneth?, Agreed, but at this point – since this game has huge seeding implications – I think you go with your #1 until circumstances make you change.

it doesnt matter whos in goal. we cant score more than one or two goals and that wont win many games.
