Kings’ playoff scenarios down to two

The Kings will be starting the first round of the playoffs in either Vancouver or San Jose, and it all depends on tomorrow morning’s game between Chicago and Detroit. If Chicago earns at least one point, the Kings will finish eighth and face Vancouver. If Chicago loses in regulation, the Kings will finish seventh and face San Jose. The series will start on either Wednesday or Thursday, but Thursday is considered the more-likely option.

Also, during the game the Kings announced their team awards. Anze Kopitar was named team MVP, Drew Doughty was named outstanding defenseman, Willie Mitchell was named best newcomer and Kopitar was named best defensive player. In a vote of the players, Matt Greene was named “most inspirational” and “unsung hero.” Dustin Brown got the community-service award from the Kings Care Foundation and Kopitar was named most-popular player by the Kings’ booster club.
