Dustin Brown’s postgame thoughts…
(on not claiming home-ice advantage…)
BROWN: “We could have finished fourth, and now we’ll finish seventh or eighth. But at the end of the day, we’re in the playoffs and it’s a new season. We’re going to hit the reset button and get ready to go, because now all the 82 games we just played are irrelevant.”
(on facing either Vancouver or San Jose…)
BROWN: “Vancouver and San Jose are top teams. Vancouver has been the top team all year, so it only makes it more difficult, but it’s the NHL playoffs. I don’t think there’s going to be an easy series for anybody. Chicago is going to be seventh or eighth, too, I believe, so when you look at it from that standpoint, the 1 and 2 teams are probably not real happy. There are no easy series. We put ourselves in this position. Now we’ve got to go from there.”
(on what needs to improve going into the playoffs…)
BROWN: “We need 20 players every night. We don’t have the type of team that can get by if we don’t have everyone. We need everyone going, and secondly we need to find ways to score goals. The first one kind of leads to the second one. If we have everyone going, it kind of makes it easier on everyone to produce chances and goals. We need 20 players.”
I’ll take 10 players. I’m tired if watching 4-5 players hustle on any given night. And please, please get rid of westgarth. The guy can’t fight, skate, pass, or shoot to save his life. Pointless player to have on the team especially now!

@Puckdaddy, The RESET BUTTON has been broken for a long time. Good luck winning another game. Your coaching staff are LOSERS!

@KingsFanFTW,
Yeah, only because of the injuries. It’s not like they ever failed to play a team game before mid-March, right? Everything was just peachy then. No slumps, no soft goals, no missed scoring opportunities…it all smelled like roses.
I doubt Wesgarth will be in the lineup against VAN.

@thustable,
Then why play him every game down the stretch?
[Reply]
20 players, eh?
I wonder who he’s sending that message to?

does that reset button get Kopitar back or do we need to actually hit the power button?

@Cynic, great “d” coach…but on the other hand..he cant teach O …..

I love DB, but hitting that reset button should also mean that he takes it upon himself to call out the guys who aren’t putting in their best efforts:
Penner….what a bust. Yeah, Kopi and JW are gone, but he really should able to play with anyone else.
Doughty…what a wasted contract year. Instead of shining, he was outplayed many times by Alec Martinez. Unfortunately, he’s still going to be able to get top dollar based on his potential rather than his production.
JJ…started the year great, but seemed to disappear after signing the big contract.
Simmonds…still great heart, but where is the finish?
PP unit…WTH??? NOTHING seems to work. Other than getting some lucky garbage goals, the PP can’t be counted on to do anything but kill any momentum the Kings may have had before the PP.

@vplaza, That’s not really a captains job, to call out guys all the time. He’s still a player, let the coaches do that. As a captain he should lead by example, and motivate the guys to do their best. That’s what he has been doing, if we had everyone putting in the work Brown has been, we’d score 6 goals a night. Unfortunately we don’t have the skill level to do that.

this is the coach who doenst know how his injured players are after a game and now he doenst know how the other games are being play out…I think he is full of beans in both cases.

@neil, how many time outs has murray called this year. maybe a couple at the right time would have saved us a couple of games.
[Reply]
I pray to God we don’t need 20 players all night, every night…
We don’t really want both goalies to have to play EVERY SINGLE GAME now, do we Brownie?

Brown said the top 1-2 teams are porbably not happy….I beg to differ,,,one of them must be estatic

@Ravens, Yeah I am sure they would rather play Chicago than you Brown! Whatever. The season is apparently not irrelevant. It allows you to prepare to win in the playoffs. The Kings are not prepared. They can’t hang with the big boys, who are sadly, Ducks. What a terrible showing to end an okay year. For Pete’s sake, score more than 2 goals. Or for that matter. More than 1!

I think its the other way around…we had over 40 shots on goal tonight against and still nothing!!!! We need to change it up on our PP…JQ is great but we should’ve given JB a chance either last night or tonight…he should’ve started last night…he sat there most of tonight with his head down cuz he knew it too…damn TM for not realizing it!!! TM spent the last 2 days thinking more about home ice advantage and look at where we are…exact opposite of where we were 2 days ago…the ducks have our spot!! Which makes it even worse…cuz we were the ones who held the ducks fate and now they have taken over

@KINGSFAN,
Unless Bernier can magically score some goals it doesn’t matter who is in net. How is playing Bernier gonna change the fact that the Kings only scored once, in both games. If you only score 1 goal don’t blame it on the goalies, unless you expect a shut out every night. Then I suggest watching Bass fishing. The goalies should only be expected to stop 1 out of every 12 shots per 120. If their still losing then the team isn’t scoring enough, because most teams in the NHL don’t even get that good a goaltending. Absolutely nothing wrong with Quick starting over Bernier.

Bring out the brooms we are the one team everyone wanted to play. Here’s to something happening this offseason to improve our team because this isn’t getting it done. We obviously rely too much on our star player. He needs help. FU aeg if you don’t do anything. This karma for you right now.

Someone please order a size 56 white jacket, with long sleeves and leather straps, for DB and make a reservation for one padded room. The man has lost all sense of perspective andd reality with regard to the team’s place and state of mind.

Ha ha. You guys are laughable expecting Brown to “call out” his teammates or fistfight them or something right before the playoffs start so that you can feel your misplaced anger expressed. The downside of the Insider is that everyone here puts WAY too much emphasis in microanalyzing every little thing the coaches or players say, especially right after a game.
[Reply]
The team made the playoffs, and whether you guys believe they can do anything or not, why not just get behind them at this point. No matter what happens in the playoffs, you’ll have the entire off season to bitch and complain.
What an awesome group of fans you guys turned out to be…
