Murray postgame quotes

Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…

(on the playoff-like game…)
MURRAY: “I hope we’re a little bit better in the playoffs than what we were out there tonight. You’re got a lot of skilled players on that hockey club. You’ve got to manage the puck the right way. We had plays that we just did not make, that you have to make against their two top lines, when it comes to breakouts, when it comes to managing the puck through the middle of the ice.”

(on the second-period breakdowns…)
MURRAY: “That’s when it really started. You get caught out there with a couple long shifts, you get a little tired because of the long change, and now you get into some breakdowns. You start to make a few mistakes, and that’s when the fatigue will set in, and it happened three or four times in that second period.”

(on Teemu Selanne’s play…)
MURRAY: “There was a time when he was scoring 70 (goals). He’s a good player, there’s no doubt about that. He’s 40-plus years old, I know, and he’s having a great year. He still has his legs and his hands. That’s where we have to know who is on the ice and where we are with the puck and where the puck is, and make the right decisions with it. The first goal is a breakdown in coverage, and he jumps on the loose puck. The second one is just a play that comes from the far end of the ice. You have to be able to defend that one.”

(on the significance of tomorrow’s final game…)
MURRAY: “You want to win the games. That’s what we try to do every night, is win our games. So it’s a big game. We regroup and play hockey.”
