Kyle Clifford’s postgame thoughts…
(on his line’s play…)
CLIFFORD: “We came out strong. Simmer and Richie have provided energy for this team all year long, so they did a great job out there.”
(on finding chemistry with Richardson and Simmonds…)
CLIFFORD: “Absolutely. I’ve played with both of them, here and there, throughout the season. It’s great to be with those two combined. It’s a real honor.”
(on making the playoffs in his rookie season…)
CLIFFORD: “It’s a real honor to be here, and to make it into the playoffs is an honor in this league. The next step is winning. You’ve got to take it round by round, and this whole team has their sights set on the Stanley Cup.”
(on trying to claim fourth place this weekend…)
CLIFFORD: “Absolutely. We’re not going to let these two games slide here. We’re going to keep focus and keep working and move on with our success in the next weekend here.”
(on his goal…)
CLIFFORD: “Scuds [Rob Scuderi] made a great play to move it up to Simmer [Wayne Simmonds] and Simmer, with all the hard work he’s done all year, he was able to beat the D-men and made a great pass and just gave me a back-door tap-in.”
Smart game 19?

@39scars, Very polished for a kid too. In the interview with Heidi after being announced 1st star he gave credit to the team’s leadership. Plays hard, lot’s of potential, great person – let’s lock him up for a long time…

WE love you Cliffy…Oh yes we do..

GREAT JOB CLIFFORD!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAY TOO KINGS….PLAYOFF HERE WE COME

Man crush? Well now I have one for Clifford. What a classy dude. Giving props to Simmonds and Richardson even though they’re not much older or in higher status than him. We have a good gritty team. Simmonds (fights), Clifford (never not fights), Brown (pretty sure has fought), Greene (fights), Westgarth (only fights), Handzus (throws lightning), Johnson (fights rarely), and I bet any one of those guys would fight for another at this point. Don’t be surprised if Doughty fights the Ducks.

Very impressive game tonight. Congrats Cliffy!

Great to see. Awesome along the boards. That line is giving us quality shifts.

Seriously, this dude has to be one of the biggest surprises this season. Way to go cliffy

This has been the most cardiac stress test season ever as a Kings fan and congrats to the boys; your second half of the season has been amazing.
Penner definitely showed signs of life tonight, and Moller finally felt comfortable enough to hold the puck and make some plays and that’s nothing but GOOD cause we need him to do some scoring, especially on the PP.
GKg, roast some Duck!

Clifford, Lewis and Martinez.
Anyone call these guys out of camp?
And Murray has to be impressed with the Clifford Richardson Simmonds line.
Remember Coach – speed kills!
GKG!

@IceGuy, “Speed Kills” agreed. Still looking forward to a Parse-Lewis-Richardson combo, but probably not till next season.

honestly i don’t give a crap where the scoring/chemistry comes from. SCORE. do whatever it takes.

Cliffy, you were outstanding. The extra effort of kicking the puck down the ice to enable a line change shows poise and character not often found in rookies. You were great, man. Keep it up……

“its a real honor” haha this kid rules!!! can you imagine what a beast hes gonna be at 27?
[Reply]
in pre-season, he had that look in his seemingly dead eyes…that look, is the look of a winner. put the “A” on his sweater for the weekend, Terry!!!
[Reply]
Get some. Get some. They are all NH:Lers so they can play against any NHLer. LA wants some hardware.
[Reply]
I love it, “you got to take it round by round” he expects to win round one, I’m with him! The next two games are going to be so much fun to watch.
Way to do it tonight Cliffy!!!

Way to go Cliffy! You should be rewarded with some extra ice-time. Just do me a favor in the home and home game against the Ducks… Crush corey Perry into the boards and lay his butt out on the open ice. I hate Perry with a passion. GO KINGS GO!!!!!!!! I ♥ LA!! WE ♥ LOVE IT!!!

Speaking of an Honor…
It’s an honor to have you on this team Cliffy! You’ve really been improving all season and you’re still going. Nice work tonight. Don’t stop. I want that Cup as much as you do!

@Cynic, I was thinking the same thing. It truly is an honor to watch a guy ( I was going to say kid but he defies his age) like Clifford play hockey. Loved the soccer into the O zone. If there had been support he might have kicked a centering pass lol. That line is awesome. Richardson has really impressed the last few games and Simmons has impressed me all season long. Great save by DD! Penner shows real life. I have such a taste for roast duck. GO KINGS!!!

@Cynic, I was going to comment on the honor and how it’s all ours as fans to have him on our team! So much respect for the game, you know that hockey gods are going to shine on him for years to come!!!
Hard to think in 5 years, he’ll be a 25 year old veteran…
[Reply]
Atta boy clifford!!

I can’t wait to watch this “kid” continue to develop the Kings version of Cam Neely (realistically 20-30g). Kids got a good shot and already knows (and is more than willing) to crash the net!
[Reply]
Unselfish young player. They ask him an “I” question and he turns into a “WE” response. Proud that he is a LA KING.
[Reply]
Humble..respect
Not too many 20 year olds seem to get it like he does.
Congrats kid!
