Kings looking for repeat effort

Tonight’s game will be the second for the surprising, new-look first line of center Brad Richardson and wingers Kyle Clifford and Wayne Simmonds. The Kings are looking for energy, forechecking and hard skating in order to create chances in the offensive end, and in Saturday’s game against Dallas, the line did a solid job in that area, so they will get another look tonight. It’s a high-profile role for the three players, all of whom started the season on the Kings’ third or fourth lines, but Terry Murray is looking for more of what he saw against the Stars…

MURRAY: “Those three young guys were very intense on the puck. They had their legs going, they put a lot of pressure on the opponent with their tenacity, and ended up, at the end of the night, having a lot to do with the outcome of the game. It was recovering those pucks, composure, moving your feet, trying to open up some passing lanes, and doing so. And then getting to the net as pucks are coming, and looking for second and third opportunities. So they had a determining outcome on the game, and that’s the kind of effort that you have to have from your secondary-scoring guys. They were tremendous, and I think they enjoy playing with each other. They have not been together a lot this year, but when we’ve come out of the power play in recent games, they end up on the ice together for a shift, and there’s a lot of excitement and energy and emotion in their playing for each other. So I liked what I saw there, in the last game.”
