Wayne Simmonds’ postgame thoughts…
(on the two goals…)
SIMMONDS: “We’re obviously without our top two scorers right now, so you’ve got to crash and bang the net to get results. In the playoffs, a lot of the goals, a lot of the deciding goals, are caused by crashing the net. I think that’s the type of attitude we have to have, just go to the net strong with our sticks on the ice, and we’ll be successful.”
(on his new line with Brad Richardson and Kyle Clifford…)
SIMMONDS: “We’re all lively legs. We like to get on guys and I think we read well off each other. We’re always in support positions for each other and close to each other for cycles, and obviously that works out well.”
(on the game-winning goal…)
SIMMONDS: “I wanted to throw it up there to Cliffy. Cliffy kind of boxed out Goligoski and I tried to throw it to him, but I think he cross-checked Cliffy and Cliffy fell. It just went right out to Greener and he put it in the net.”
When does everyone think Clifford will get a star of the game award, he should have had one in Vancouver and no disrespect Doughty but Clifford was better then you tonight.
trust me big contracts talk loud and large in this league with all media and coaching staffs.

I think Simmer just named his new line: ‘The Lively Legs Line’
Great game by those three. Richardson was a man possessed today. Our best offensive line of the game.

@Cynic,
Totally. Richardson had one of his best games of the season. He’s stepping up big time.

@wavesinair, If I recall correctly, Richardson stepped his game up in the playoffs last year as well. Hopefully this is a continuing trend from him.

I like the attitude by Simmonds, Crash the net and get the ugly goals. Pretty much all of the goalies the Kings will face from here on out are going to be very very good and the only way to score will be to overwhelm them.

@DesertKing, was that his attitude? on both goals, he had INCIDENTAL (at best) contact with the puck. he accidentally kicked the puck in on the mitchell goal. great attitude, right?

@sid the kid, Simmonds’ hustle and strength was huge in this game. Attitude feeds hustle. Yes, that was his attitude.

Best line of the game imo. Hardworking, always hustling, intense with that go to the net attitude. Well done!

SIMMONDS!!!! Great time to come up with a big game. Kings magic number goes down four notches. Playoffs are virtually assured and the first round should be fun. Having AK gone assures that nobody will take a shift off. It’s going to be an uphill battle in the playoffs with so little offense, but a strong end to the season will build confidence and momentum for the guys that are out on the ice.

Simmonds, do you actually read this?? ‘Cuz you’re the man!!!! keep it up with Kopi and Williams out, and the whole league trying to go “Kratos” on Zeus’ ass, someone’s gotta step up, and you’re doing it so far!!
