Dustin Brown’s postgame thoughts…
(on not recording a shot on goal in the third period…)
BROWN: “I thought we were too tentative from the start. We had a one-goal lead, and we just didn’t go after it. We kind of sat back, and when you have a team like that [Vancouver], they’re going to shove it down your throat if you’re going to sit back and not attack. We didn’t get enough attacks from the start of the game, I thought, not just the third period.”
(on the game, against the NHL’s top team…)
BROWN: “They have a good team. I think they clinched today, first place in the league, but we’ve got to find a way to be better. I mean, we were in a 2-1 game. That second goal was a tough one, but we’re 2-1 with less than five minutes left and we still have a chance there. It’s tough when you put yourself in that situation at the end of the game. It kind of takes the wind out of the sails. We’ve just got to move on. It’s kind of the playoffs now, very similar to that, so you’ve got to forget it and move on.”

@KingsFanFTW, it looked to me like Brown was being keyed on all night by Vancouver. They played him tight and he didn’t have a lot of open space.

DB stunk all game long.
Way to go Cap.

Brownie you were kind of MIA tonight, everytime you had the puck it was bouncing around in your skates. No passing, no hits, no goals, no nothing. And you weren’t the only one.

kings fan, how dare you. This was the 5th regulation loss in the last 30 games against a team that happens to be the best one in the league right now.

@Eric,
Yeah, how dare us want to win every game and express disappointment when the team plays to nowhere near its capability.
Kings fans need to get out of the habit of teething on what’s in the rearview mirror and face what’s ahead. No prior win this season means squat this morning (nor would they had the Kings won). It’s all about Now.

Good advice Brownie. We’ve suffered worse losses and came right back to put together some nice streaks. St.Louis, and Detroit come to mind most recently. The team didn’t crumble after those losses, and I don’t think a 3-1 loss to the best team in the league is anything to be ashamed of. Especially since we were 8-2-0 heading into the game.
Shake it off and come back tomorrow with your hardhats on, ready to go back to work.

All things considered, Canucks didn’t really blow out the kings. Took a 5-3 situation with the best power play in the league to score ONE goal to put this game away. Canucks, this all you have? Considering all the hoopla the media makes about you, I would be concern.

@rogiesbackup, I’ve watched the last couple of games by vancover. They are good at acting and they aren’t scorng tons so best out of seven I see them having a hard time. Don’t like them at all and if they keep playing like this it will catch up to them and someones going to get hurt bad.

Have no idea where you were tonight. Do you have a parasidic twin that played in your place tonight? He was horrible.
The real Dustin Brown must have still been in Edmonton, relishing in that win because THAT Dustin Brown was nowhere to be seen tonight!
On another related note, I was ready to call the line of Smyth-Lewis-Brown the ‘Life-Alert’ line. All night they kept falling down and played like they couldn’t get back up! Lewis was pretty good, but those other 2 stunk it up. I expect much more from those two on a night like tonight.
What’s done is done. You BETTER be ready for Saturday. This game against Dallas is a 4 point swing and would basically lock us up in a playoff spot.
Start playing like Cap’n Crunch and quit playing like Captain and Tennile!

Agree with the Cap. The Kings play VAN with too much deference, too much respect.
