Hey Rich, what was the atmosphere like in the locker room following the game?

I’ll comment when I’m recovered … but it’s not gonna be anytime soon. I’m so done right now.

@sloppy joe, You guys crack me up. How much longer are you going to say “…next year…” I’ve been saying next year for 30 years. The Ducks have a Cup before we do, don’t you get it. They didn’t do it with a Cinderella team. They brought in what was needed. And there was a parade in Anaheim. Lets all wait for Schenn…Lets all wait for Lokitonov…lets all wait for Muzzin…wait….wait …wait…
One guy goes down….please. Our defense is stellar, but what are we supposed to do, win playoff games with a 1st line that hasn’t been complete all year? And now our second line is our first. Heart it out all you want, I’ve been doing it for thirty years. I want a Cup.

@wavesinair, My best hope … it is a fibula. And it is not oblique or torsion fracture. It’s gonna take like 4 weeks for the bone is stable ebough with a plate and screws, and adds some skating time …so yea, 5-6 weeks, hopefully.

man thats painful to watch. its gonna be tough in the playoffs without him. quick and our defense needs to be damn near perfect for us to win a series!!! i hope our offense can step it up like they did in the third.

@kevin from toronto, What are you talking about next year? He’ll be back for late second round early 3rd just in time for the cup finals where he will get the game winning goal in game 5 against the Habs.

AACK THAT’S GROSS! Get well soon, Anze…
-_-

By reading some of these comments you would think the Kings shouldn’t even board the plane to Edmonton.
I’m devastated. This hurts. No way to sugar coat it cause Kopitar is a great player.
But, Sometimes teams step up and thrive on handling adversity. I have enough faith in the character of this team that they will all step up their games. Stoll, Handzus, Smyth, Penner, etc. These guys are solid and proud hockey players.
Look how well Pittsburgh has done without Crosby and Malkin. Anaheim did well without Getzlaf. SJ didn’t miss a beat when Boyle went down.
The sky hasn’t fallen yet!

@Dom, Dude, it’s from Animal House. C’mon now.
Having JW’s experience on the team right now is huge. JW has been through these types of injuries before, AK has not. Going through the experience of an injury can be very difficult, if not down right depressing for a profesional athlete. But having JW there to sort of mentor AK through the rehab is priceless. It wasnt long ago that JW was injured (I think it was his ankel, maybe knee)and came back way – way before expectations. So AK having a guy like JW there to talk to, to help him keep focused on working throug the rehab, being mentally prepared is huge!! Who knows, maybe AK can shock us all and come back earlier than expected also.

@Lead Feet, I hope you’re right about sooner but a broken bone takes it’s time. I’m no doctor but the bone has to fuse together on it’s own. No rehabbing until that happens.

ya,no doubt about that but wasnt a broken leg that JW suffered and came back a couple of weeks early? Im just asking / going off of memory here.

@Lead Feet, Williams missed 11 weeks. Hurt 12-26 and returned 3-12-10.

@LA_1968, yes…but that was earlier than expected. Point being the work ethic and the focus that JW put in and kept allowed him to return as early as possible…..maybe AK can do the same

@LA_1968,
The good news is that the break typically heals back stronger than it was before. At least that’s what the docs told me when I broke my heelbone.

@Lead Feet, You also have to remember JW heals like a machine.

6 weeks, he’ll be back in the stanley cup finals to give us the cup.
[Reply]
Get completely well soon, Anze!
Time to pick him up boys. Harold can fill that fourth line winger spot well if Richardson plays center and Lewis goes to the third line.
[Reply]
a shame for a great guy, great teammate….kings need to rally around it and come out bustin’.
[Reply]
Bye bye first round! Well, at least we’ll make the playoffs this year.
[Reply]
This is elation to deflation in the matter of seconds. Couldn’t bear to watch it.
[Reply]
My hope at the beginning of the year was that the Kings would reach the second round. I think they can still do that. There is no window – Anze will be back next year, and the team will have gained a lot of valuable experience – perhaps even more with him out of the lineup. The medium- and long-term future of the team is still fantastic.

It sucks that Kopi is out but this does not by any means result in the demise of the Kings this season.
First this is a great opportunity for the other fowards to step up and give it try. Realistically our offense has been struggling this season in general. Maybe now the fowards will get it into their heads that they all need to step up especially with Kopi and Williams out due to injuies. Honestly i think they will, the kings are not a team that just backs down when facing adversity, they are fighters, and they will fight. I think we may just see some fire in these players in the coming games.
[Reply]
Good thing the kings has 4 other 20+ goal scorers.
[Reply]
I blame the Clippers.
[Reply]
Am I the only one that doesn’t want Kopitar to come back early? The guy is 23, and the window for this team is opening, not closing. The very last thing we need as fans and the team needs as a competitive force is to sell out his future for a chance run like Brandon Roy last year in the playoffs for the Trailblazers (NBA). Come back when he’s ready and healthy, not early like Justin Williams last year only to be hideously ineffective.

Wery encouriging news regardin Kopitar injury.
His father Matjaz Kopitar has for one Slovenian web site said that the inyuri is not that bad as it was first said.
He said that the ankle is probably not broken, but the MRI onMonday will show everything. He also said that he is a little bit afraid that Kopitar will push himself nad will be back on ice a little bit to early.
If you can understand Slovene or use google translator, you can see this on that link:

Gave new meaning to “trap” game. Super sad face. Oh well time to move on.

Simple solution: This team has to learn how to play as ONE. It’d be great if all 4 lines had the same energy as the 4th line.
