The Avalanche pulled within 2-1 with 1:39 remaining in the second period. Doughty slipped while trying to play the puck behind the Kings’ net. The Avalanche picked it up, Paul Stastny hit Milan Hejduk with a quick centering pass and Hejduk scored from close range.
Shots are 18-16 in favor of the Kings entering the third period.
C’mon hockey gods! Don’t do this to us.

Pretty weak response by the Kings to Kopitar’s injury. Murray has some work to do.

time to nut up or shut up

if its the knee its gonna be a while… Kings need to figure out who will replace him.. Schenn, lewis, handzus? Any other strong centers down in minors? moller, richardson, lewis, stoll and Zus are all natural centers

@jason, Stoll will most likely move up with Lewis, or Zues moving to the second. The fourth will be a patchwork of who’s not tired.

@jason,
Corey Elkins would be the likely call up IMO. Justin Azevedo has more points but Corey has the experience and he’s considerably bigger. There’s also Marc-Andre Cliche who could just as easily get the call. All depends on how’s playing best I suppose.

@jason, I don’t think we can call up Schenn unless he loses in the playoffs. I heard something about an emergency basis, but I don’t think that they’ll do that.

give him a new leg and put him back out on the ice. jk. hope it’s not serious.We need him.

@Goring 19, Foxy slowed it down and I agree with his early assessment, it looks like his ankle.

Please be quiet Foxy. Love you but don’t compare Williams to Moller.
[Reply]
Looked a lot like Taylor Hall’s injury. Hall’s gone for the year, so Kopi is… uh-oh.
That said, how are the Penguins doing without Crosby? Oh, that’s good! In other words, the season is NOT over. Time to man up!
[Reply]
Foxy might have to lace them up!!
[Reply]
Ok Kings, we lost JW, it looks like Kopi may be hurt and Brownie went to the locker room early. Yeah, we need those guys, but it aint over! First, get focused back on this game. Smack the Avs in the mouth and get those 2 points because we really need them. If some of our best players are going to be out, then the other guys will have to step up! Remember, JW and Kopi are hockey players. They would play with missing limbs, so they will be back. We still have great goaltending and a great PK. We can find scoring somehwere else, especially since we were not a scoring machine to start with. Keep the faith!

Really hurt right now. We were looking dangerous as a team. Why Hockey Gods? Why”
[Reply]
From what I saw on the broadcast it looked like lower leg or ankle. At this point – I’m hoping for just the ankle. He’s gone for a while I’m thinkin’. No bad thoughts to O’Bryn tho – just two guys fighting for the puck.
Time to suck it up Kings. This really hurts our chances. But I’m not giving up yet. You could tell the whole team wasn’t thinking of anything but Kopi for the rest of the period. They’ll get some info in the room, then it’s time to nut up and move forward.

Does this make since. Offside=Called when any attacking player precedes the puck across the defending team’s blue line. Both skates must cross the blue line ahead of the puck

This is what happened to the Pittsburgh Penguins. They lost Crosby, then they lost Malkin. From there it was all downhill…. oh wait, the Penguins are 2nd in the Eastern Conference.
Frankly, I cant believe all of you writing the Kings off already. True Kopi scores 13% of our goals. And Williams accounts for 11%. The Kings have enough firepower to make that up. Everyone has to step it up. And I think they will.

You people are depressing. Yes Kopitar’s injury looked horrible and he is probably done for. Yes we lost Williams too. It really does suck because this team looked great. We still have Quick and our players just need to move on and focus on their game and find ways to win without them. We have a great goalie, good defense, and a good PK. That is pretty important when it comes to winning games in the playoffs.
The Penguins lost Crosby and Malkin and they have still found ways to win. They stick to their game mentality and do what they need to do to get the job done. The Kings will just have to do the same as well. Other players will need to step up and pick up the scoring. Stay positive and don’t lose hope no matter what. Anything can happen.

@KingsFanFTW,
You get the puck to the net and things are bound to happen. Players will just have to step up and pick up their game. Injuries happen and you never like to see any player on any team go down with any type of injury. You move on and focus on what you’re trying to accomplish as a team.

99% Done man. We are peeped. This guy was our hope for the year, especially with Williams done, but seems like we got no Kopie for playoffs either. This is most likely MCL ACL tear. It is nowhere close to ankle. The only 1% hope that i have that it might not be acl or mcl is the way he was leaning on that knee and trying to avoid the ankle or skate touching the ground. That is my only hope that this is not ACL or MCL. It feels like you just got shot on your knee when you get ACL or MCL tear. But while he was trying to get up,, he was leaning on that knee while on ice.!! but it definitely looks like a knee injury the way he fell down.
