FINAL: Kings 4, Avalanche 1

The Kings completed a four-game season-series sweep of the Avalanche as they cruised to victory. Hopefully there will be a postgame update on the status of Anze Kopitar, who did not return to the bench in the third period.

@ULVkingsfan, simmonds is lucky he is in the NHL, he at best is a 4 th line type who can’t play on PK OR PP, if wayne doesn’t step up he might be looking for a job, he’s not progressing as they the kings management thought he would, heard all the teams wanted kyle clifford , i don’t blame them, better future and he is willing to fight, simmonds is hiding under the visor and trying to steal $$, not worth 600 k a year , too lazy !

    Kingdom Come Reply:

@ULVkingsfan, This clearly was going to be a shutout for Quick, Right after the injury to kopitar the whole team looked down, Av’s capitalized on that and a bad turnover by Doughty ( No Surprise there). Hope Kopitar gets better, im sure the team can pull thru for him and win games without him.

@DLB, I think the team will be fine mentally. TM and Brown will keep everybody on the same page. I actually think the Kings are setup better than Pitt to do well without their 2 top scorers. Pitt depends on offensive game to outscore others, and had to change to a D 1st strategy, while the Kings already focused on D and can just wear down other teams in a 7 game series with all the big bodies. I think Stoll moves to the 1st line, Handzus 2nd line, Lewis centers the checking line, and Richardson centers the 4th with the ability to move up and double shift for players not playing well. Call up would be a D-Guy(King or Cliche) or a O guy(Holloway) that is hidden on the 4th line, maybe PP time. I would elevate King he seems to be ready all around and also has the size. It could be Elkins or Cliche if they need a faceoff guy. Mostly it play the system and you can’t lose if you shutdown your opponent.

I think the word is Phyric Victory. I don’t know how you spell it…. Rich would. But that might be the lead for his game story.
Whatever it is, it’s just a darn shame. Two thirds of your top line. Yikes. That IS bad luck.
One team that’s avoided serious injuries (two actually) are Philly (except for Pronger but he’ll be back for playoffs) and, was gonna say the Caps but Mike Green is out, so forget that one.
    Well SJ has stayed healthy.

On the radio Nick says from the Kings they’re only calling it a ‘lower body injury’. I only listened on the radio but even w/o seeing it, it’s like, um, I coulda told you that. No wonder people lose patience with the upper – lower scenarios. How many parts to the body are there anyway. Oh, good, that simplifies it. In the anatomy drawing classes now they can just tell the students ‘today we’ll work on renderings of the upper body’. Great.

@number 6, No offense, but it’s not the Kings responsibility, not anyone’s right to tell anyone what is hurt, how it’s hurt, or any other information.

annnnnd the difference is also that Ovechkin isn’t that hurt. It was more just a decision to rest him up and let him heal. Chicago has waayyyy more depth than we do at forward. Crosby is practicing and may be back for the playoffs (and he’s only like the best player in the nhl).

Otherwise agree wrt Malkin and Datzyuk. Not sure about Sharpe.
