The quest for the…crate?

In case anyone thinks there is no fun to be had during a tough hockey season, a very helpful reader named Philip passed this along. A few of the Kings have been participating in an informal 4-on-4 post-practice “tournament,” and it concluded yesterday with the team of Willie Mitchell, Davis Drewiske, Wayne Simmonds and Ryan Smyth getting the better of Kyle Clifford, Trevor Lewis, Brad Richardson and Kevin Westgarth. In search of a trophy to celebrate the win, Mitchell found two crates, usually used to store practice pucks, and the team posed at center ice as Philip got the shot of the players and their prize. “We’re each going to spend a day with it,” Mitchell said.

Instead of engraving their names on the “crate” how about they could put a milk carton in the crate with a picture of the missing offense on it?

I’m just wondering if Smyth scored any goals. Maybe that “tournament” will trigger his production in real games…

    [Reply]

    Stuart Reply:

@Mike V., that’s why he’s been so slow on the ice, blowing his wad going for the crate after practices!!! I’d bet his mullet has been moving in those little scrimmages…

Bako!!! I’ve been trying to chase you down. You let me have it pretty good the other day. I probably deserved it (but only I really know why). I hope you’re right and JW comes back and scores at least one goal. Then you can send me if you wish a smiley face.

I mean, it IS just a tad frustrating as he has so much more dimension to his game than any of our other forwards.

    PK Reply:

@BrokeKingsFan, that’s the whole point of “crate” hockey; No goalies. Although it would be great to see the goalies skating out

    [Reply]

    BrokeKingsFan Reply:

@PK, aaahaaaa! Gotcha, they were shooting pucks into the “crates” with no goalies. sorry but i cant be blamed for my ignorance. Ok…..maybe i can.

    Grant Reply:

@Geoff, Typically, Bernier participates in the 4 v. 4 game after practice. It’s like regular street hockey with the blue line as the “take out line”.

haha nice. reminds me of our ball hockey games we had on Sundays when i was in high school playing against one of the teachers and former students. each week the winner of the series (4 out of 7) would get to take home the ‘trophy’ which was an empty beer bottle we found outside, which was probably mine at one point :/
