Oscar Moller will indeed fill the first-line right-wing role tomorrow night against San Jose, and Terry Murray said Moller will also see some power-play time. Kyle Clifford is ready to go for tomorrow and Jonathan Quick is expected to start in goal. More notes and quotes to come…
I’d like to see Westgarth out of the line-up for Thursday.

@Stuart,
Lately it’s been a swap between Westy and Richie. No reason to think it won’t be one of the 2 that will be scratched.

I want to see this before the voluptuous tuna has a chance to injure anyone, as he has been doing lately.

@tornado12, San Jose Mercury News. Article about cut resistant gear.
Quote:
“Hockey players are idiots,” said Cornell-educated Douglas Murray, who doesn’t wear the protective material. “You have to get hurt first so you know the value of it. That’s what we do.
“I didn’t put a visor on until I took a puck in the eye and scratched my cornea,” the defenseman continued. “You don’t think you need stuff, and then you add on as you hurt yourself. It’s plain stupid.”

@Token, thats true you never really find guys wearing something until you get hurt ive always worn a visor but i didnt start wearing a mouth guard til i lost 4 teeth and it wasnt even a puck it was a high stick that did it…i think visors should be mantitory in the NHL at least protect your eyes…teeth can be replaced eye sight cannot

- I hope he blinks and cures the Kings offense.
- I hope he’s a high priest NHL assassin warlock.
- I hope he’s tired of pretending he’s not a total bitchin’ rock star from Mars.

@Shakes,
Emphasize “kinda”
I’m a little surprised he’d say that knowing how people are so sensitive. I know he’s joking, and I’m certainly not PC by any stretch, but if you’re going to go there, it should probably be a better joke.

@wavesinair, If Alec said, “I am going to get my little Swedish friend for lunch”, would it sound as bad? I do not think he said it to be funny, he does not have the prospective.

Shakes Reply:

@jet, Or the flip side is that maybe he does have that perspective and they joke around like that? That could be a possibility.
Although it is funny how, as you point out (and I hadn’t thought of it until you said so), that for some reason if you say Swedish (“little Swedish friend”) it seems like no one would even think twice about it being non-PC.
So that’s probably all Oscar was thinking (and that’s the way I take it). Just a goofy comment about a friend and teammate from Manchester where both kids are now trying to make it at the big club.
By the way, on a sidenote, the other good thing about having a deep farm system (In DM We Trust) is that so many of these guys have played together before being at the big club – totally cool in terms of team chemistry.
wavesinair Reply:

@jet,
It was totally a joke. The dead give away was the word “little.” And not to belabor the point but PC typically is a one way street, i.e. you can make fun of “white” guys all you want but don’t you dare make fun of a “minority.” There’s no question that’s just how those two joke around. The other side of the story is, I wonder what Alec calls Oscar! Inquiring minds…
kingfan Reply:
March 23rd, 2011 at 1:47 pm
@jet, Martinez, by the way, is not Mexican. He’s from Michigan, I think, with parents from Spain….
just saying..
Stuart Reply:

@kingfan, that little tidbit makes this whole thing even that much more HILARIOUS!!! If Marty was mexican, it would be Alex, not Alec!!!
I hope Marty calls him his little Dane, or Saxon, or Jute, or … LMAO!!!
I think Moller well be a big hit this time around! He’s stronger and plays good D now! I will go as far to say in the last 9 games, if he plays on the first line only, 4 goals 3 assists = 7pts
Plus, he really hunger to prove himself this time, so he can make the team next year!
[Reply]
Hopefully Oscar Moller can get the rest of the season on the 1st line
I’d hate to c him only play up there for a couple of games…..and then we might trade him since he’s “not developing chemistry with Kopitar” after 4 games and next thing u know….
Oscar Moller becomes Matt Moulson #2
Hopefully that doesn’t happen

I think Oscar’s call up is excellent. While we’ll all miss Willy, his goal production and his leadership, Oscar brings speed, leadership (former captain of the Swedish Junior Team) and definite enthusiasm. He is part of the Kings future and he’s been lighting it up in Manchester. He has always been successful, particularly when called up by LA. I wouldn’t discount his size either; he has no problem going into the corners against much bigger players. This time around he’s going to be more experienced. He knows this team, it’s system and the players (loved his Twitter about Martinez). He knows Kopi; his only adjustment will be learning Penner and Dustin has shown us he can play with anyone.
Oscar is the perfect call-up. He’ll bring much needed speed, a nose for the net and a very good shot to the Kings. He’s also an excellent positional player who makes few mistakes.
Great to have ya back Oscar!
[Reply]
i think he’ll do fine on the 1st line ive seen him skate that that swede’s got some speed on him…hes a little undersized but never judge a book by its cover…and you never know maybe he will score the winning goal with 25 seconds left on the clock 2morrow
