Jarret Stoll’s postgame thoughts…
(on the win…)
STOLL: “It’s pretty big right now, especially with nine games left. They keep getting bigger and bigger. The points mean more and more, and we needed those two points, for sure. We didn’t want to give them one, or two, but it was what it was, and we came away with two.”
(on his third-period goal…)
STOLL: “(Wayne Simmonds) does such good work down there, low, strong on the puck, moving his feet. He found Richie [Brad Richardson]. We were talking about it on the bench, that soft area, that we’ve got to start finding it. It was open there, for a lot of the game, and we just couldn’t really find it. Richie had a good shot and I just beat my guy to the net and had a rebound.”
(on the game…)
STOLL: “We knew it wasn’t going to be pretty or fancy or a high-scoring game. We knew it was going to be a battle like this, and it was. They’re a strong team, they’re a tough team to play against. They had a good goalie there. We tried to get to him. We had a good shot mentality tonight. We just couldn’t bury them. But a lot of positives, for sure.”
Quite pleased with his game..

Nice of Stoli to recognize Simmond’s effort tonight. He was really throwing himself around the rink and getting to loose pucks.

Seems like team scouts found an “achilles heel” in the Kings. Watch out for that break-away pass. Seems like opponents have been trying that for couple games now.

@rogiesbackup, that achilles heal.. is JJ. no grit. never takes the body.. beaten twice in two games the same spot.. I’m really nervous when he’s out there.. no fire in Jack Johnson. what’s his problem?

Simmonds forechecking as outstanding and really saved our ass. Big win tonight. Just think how good we would be if Ryan smythe was alive.

Smyth actually got real close to getting a goal tonight. Although, I think if he was in his usual shape he woulda buried that one. Something really wrong with his play and it ain’t getting any easier if Williams’ injury is something serious… Who we gonna put up there? Brown or Simmonds? But on the game, really exciting hockey the full length of it. Maybe got a little passive down the stretch there, in the early parts of the second but once again, my god what a last 30 minutes of a Kings game. Love it every time. And Quick is amazing. Go Kings go!

I liked reading the above. It shows that the players – while taking a breather – are still engaged and analyzing their opponent’s play. I’m sure it goes on all the time, but we as fans don’t always hear about it. It was a nice change-of-pace.
