Kings 1, Flames 1

The Kings broke the scoreless tie with 5:52 remaining in the third period. Wayne Simmonds did a good job of keeping the puck alive behind the Calgary net, and into the corner, and Simmonds pushed the puck to the top of the left circle. Kiprusoff made the save on Brad Richardson’s shot, but Jarret Stoll chased down the rebound and whipped the puck into the net before Kiprusoff could get back in position.

The lead lasted only 65 seconds, though. Olli Jokinen took a pass from Steve Staios in the neutral zone and skated past Jack Johnson for a breakaway. Jokinen tucked a backhand shot past Quick from close range to tie the game 1-1 with 4:47 remaining.

Justin Williams has yet to return to the game, or the bench, after being checked by Robyn Regehr in the middle of the period.

I don’t agree. JJ mistake after mistake after mistake. What argument do you have? Too much risk for the reward.

    [Reply]

    mrbrett7 Reply:

@jason, Wasn’t all his fault…Handzus’s responsibility is to choke off the center of the ice, and he was off in LA LA land, leaving the ability to make that pass.

Yes, JJ was out of position on Jokinen’s goal, as was Handzus. You can clearly see on the replay that Fox went over that Handzus’s job is to choke off the center of the ice, and he clearly didn’t, leaving the ability to make that pass wide open.
