Shots were 6-5 in favor of the Flames in the first period. The Flames went 0-for-2 on the power play and the Kings went 0-for-1.

    Yep can pretty much tell after the first few what the mindset is. Don’t mean to be buzz killington but I don’t see our team being anywhere near ready for the playoffs.

    Quick is doing great, but someone needs to tell Murray he doesn’t score goals..

    He kind of blew that 2-on-1 by taking the shot as late as he did, allowing Giordano to make the play. But he is playing better, yes.

    So, Kiprusoff looks like a rented goaltender last night against a Quacks team that played the night before and now the Kings make him look almost like an All-Star. The PP is still as unproductive as ever. It may be a little different, but the results are the same. No goals. Kills momentum.

    At least the PK was working. Why, oh why, can’t this team win at home like they do on the road?

    Just to give you a little info I was watching the Manchester Monarchs game vs the Worchester Sharks and they had only scored 1 goal in eight periods until breaking that slump to get 2 goals in the third. I couldn’t believe the similarities with the Kings there. Here’s to getting 2 or more in the third.

    I am getting very bored with this team. These games have no excitement due to the crappy, boring, defensive system that TM utilizes. No fire, no spark…not even going to watch the rest until after it is over so I can fast forward and just watch the goals…if we can muster up enough shots to finally get one.

    I don’t understand why everyone is so critical over the first period. We limited the Flames to six shots when they had two PP and quick’s play thus far has been exceptional. If you’re expecting the Kings to blow out every team then you have an odd concept of what the NHL looks like in March and April. As much as I would love to see the Kings get five goals and coast through the game, I would rather they play games like this, like playoff games, so when the playoffs come, they’re mentally ready.

    This year at times and this last PP I saw Kopitar in the mid-to-midhigh slot area with the puck but with his back to the net… no one is around him and yet he doesn’t get a dangerous backhander off or turn and shoot. Instead he usually passes it further out. Shoot the puck when you are open like that!

    For a team that expects to get garbage goals (rebs and deflections), it would make a humongous difference if they’d actually get shots on net. You can’t get a rebound from shots that hit the boards (unless you play in Detroit)

    It’s 1 (goal) out of 2 2/3 games. So 1 divided by 2.66666666666666…

    = 0.375 goals/game
