Kyle Clifford update

Kyle Clifford stood and watched most of practice today, his left eye still a nasty shade of purple and slightly swollen, but Clifford was able to do off-ice workouts today and apparently is not suffering from any concussion symptoms right now. Terry Murray’s hope is that Clifford will be able to return for Thursday’s home game against San Jose.

MURRAY: “When I talked to him yesterday, he was feeling much better. The headaches were gone. He had a workout off ice today, riding the bike. I’d like to think that he’s going to be able to get on the ice, if not tomorrow then Tuesday, and join the team in the practices.”

    Clifford is a tough kid and it will be good to see him back in uniform. Can anyone answer why Westgarth played so many shifts at the beginning of the 3rd period? We needed scoring and Westie isn’t a scorer.

    @DesertKing,

    Sounds like you were booing at that point. Howcome I didn’t hear about it in any of the booing updates?

    @Scot,

    I heard that there was some really poor and unprofessional reporting on the booing situation occurring. I can honestly say that the Kings were not boo’ed by the fans at all.

    @Guss,

    I can tell you that a certin BS chant was heard in very very very close proximity to the reporter. I heard via text that you could hear it on TV and when we replayed it this m rning, you could pick it up. The fans were definitely united against the Zebras and for very good reasons!

    Get well soon Kyle. We need you back in the line-up soon so that Westy doesn’t play as much, or at all.

    Murray must have thought he needed to send a message, not withstanding I thought Anaheim was playing some grinders early, not the big 3 guys??

    Great for Clifford, really tough kid, I know that Cliffy is more upset with the outcome of the altercation then the black eye right now. Long career Kyle to settle such a trivial score with Reaves, chalk it up to the learning curve.

    All good lets get back to the playoff drive

    Is it just me or is Staples Center’s ice a lot smaller than the Honda Center, and all other rinks for that matter? Seems like everyone is so condensed at Staples, and there is so much more space, watching the Ducks game right now. I’ve been seeing this for awhile.

    @Scot,

    every rink is the same size per NHL standards. It’s not soccer where the home team can have a field any size it wants within certain parameters.

    @GBOI,

    I know. But did you hear a couple years ago, I think it was Jacques Martin who noticed that the rink at Madison Square Garden didn’t seem as wide from player benches, to penalty boxes? And he was right! They came in and measured and MSG’s surface was about 7 feet narrower. You never know!

    Guss Reply:

    @Scot, Yea i have always agreed with that, it always seems smaller.

    39scars Reply:

    @Scot, Boston had a small rink at the garden

    CB14 Reply:

    @Scot, They are all the same size, 200ft. x 85ft.

    I must be a real Kings fan by virtue of
    the fact that the Ducks really bother me..
    Real disdain for them.. They have managed
    to score 6 goals in about 6 minutes chasing
    Kipper from the game.. The flames look quite flat out there.
    Is this the team we’re gonna get? I doubt it…

    Kings always angry but they just dont get anything going their way

    @Slim, Sitting here watching the game thinking “great, just what we don’t need, angry Flames coming to Staples tomorrow night.”

    KingsFanFTW Reply:

    @KDinUT, well the kings are going to be angry too they play hard and still lost against the Ducks so going to be a ugly game tomorrow

    @KingsFanFTW, Whens the last time the Kings went into a game
    angry, I’ve got a horrible memory.. Seems to me that they are
    an even keeled systematic machine..

    Dominick Reply:

    @KDinUT,
    You have to wonder. St.louis lost to the Ducks 2-1 the night before, then came into Staples center and creamed us. I hope someone from the Kings coaching staff is paying attenention to the game so we can be ready for Calgary they play us.

    KDinUT Reply:

    @Dominick, I know – it just seems like these back-to-back games where they play the Quacks first and lose they come in with a chip on their shoulder. Flames have scored late in the 1st but still down by 2.

    We miss you Cliffy! You’re a thousand times better than Westie. Need to find a place for Westie somewhere else. I am always nervous with him on the ice–I even saw him grab at a couple of Duck players and expected the ref to call a penalty. He is more of a liability than an asset. I thought DL likes assets! Even when Westie stands in front of the net waiting for the Duck player behind the net, he looks like he doesn’t know what he’s doing. Please TM, get him off the ice!

    He looks adorable with the black eye! Sad but true! every brawler takes a hit now and then he will get that chick reaves next time! Cliffy drops bombs!! He’s not a quitter notice how in a daze he was still reaching for Reaves! MMA boy! 2 cute! He should do some muoi thai boxing on the side he would rock that!
