Rob Scuderi’s postgame thoughts…
(on this being a “trap” game…)
SCUDERI: “I think so. We’re coming off a big road trip. First of all, I’m not making excuses for our play. But you look at it, and we’re coming off a big road trip, a lot of energy, a lot of excitement. We come back, and we’re playing a team that’s technically still alive (in the playoff race) but maybe on their last gasp of air, and we just came out flat. Right from the get-go, every single guy. The only guy who probably was ready to go was Quickie [Jonathan Quick]. I thought he was tremendous in the first two-and-a-half periods. A couple tough ones, lucky bounces, and he was probably exhausted at that point. A trap game? Maybe. Sometimes you’re going to have to fight through those.”
(on the second goal being a back-breaker…)
SCUDERI: “It’s tough, at the end of the second period, but what are you going to do? We were completely outplayed for two periods. We’ve scored two goals in a period before. You’ve got to keep battling. Even if things aren’t going your way, you have to find a way to do something. You have to do something for the team, and that’s up to each individual in here, to figure out what it is. I thought, third period, maybe there were some signs of life. The puck seems to skip on the third one. Certainly it’s deflating, but we’re a team and you’ve got to keep battling and see what happens.”
M glad they all have an off night on the same night

@KingsFanFTW, Good job…and there were only two points on the table to lose, and the two they gave away PROBABLY won’t come back to haunt them (that is, the Blues probably aren’t a threat.)

@What’s the frequency, Kenneth?, Sounds good but I wouldn’t be too sure about things. They are going to lose sometime, but like that?

@USHA#17, Yes, really good teams occasionally have really bad games. Just watch the scores.
Was the 2nd goal a back breaker? NO SIR! The back breaker was the corresponding SIX SHOTS over those two periods!

@What’s the frequency, Kenneth?,
Emotionally, it was a backbreaker. It was a soft goal that shouldn’t gone in. Quick knew it and he didn’t bother to answer the bell for the third period.

@neil,
That stellar home record you’re referring also includes going 2-6 on a 8-game stand — and both of those wins were against non-playoff teams (CLB and EDM). What happened in October matters little now. Since Jan. 1, the Kings have been a much more effective team on the road.

And that’s just what we’ll do, keep battling. Come on guys, it was ONE really really lousy game, but it’s not the end of the season! Kings fans get back on board, get over it and move on.
And I’ll never agree with the booing, no matter what.
Good night, done for tonight.

Maybe Terry Murray could read these comments and ask Scuderi for advice on how to address bad play the next time it happens. Rob is just an honest guy who nailed it with his first words about not making excuses for the team’s play.
Maybe he should be coaching this team….

@Cynic, I think both Rob Scuderi and Willie Mitchell have the makeup to be future coaches or GM’S in the future.
