Brown postgame quotes

Dustin Brown’s postgame thoughts…

(on the game…)
BROWN: “The result was about right. Quickie made, in the first period, probably about 10 saves he shouldn’t have, so it could have been a lot worse than it was. … Tonight we just didn’t show up, so you’re not going to beat any team in this league, regardless whether they’re good or not.”

(on losing the first home game after a road trip…)
BROWN: “Everyone makes a big deal about that. I think it’s just a mindset, really. I mean, if you’re ready to play, whether it’s your first game back or not…tonight it didn’t matter if it was our first game back or we’d been home for four or five days. We play that way, we’re not going to win games.”

(on the game…)
BROWN: “We’ve been playing pretty good hockey, and tonight we didn’t play our game and it showed. But at this point in the year we’re still in the heat of the race and it’s just a matter of getting back to it now. We can’t dwell on this.”

It IS true what someone said in one of the responses….. it’s not like they’re a lock for the playoffs either so that sort of effort is very disappointing. Nashville is out of PO position but only three points back. A few more ‘home stand slip ups’ of which we all know there have already been several, and they could slip out of the playoffs altogether. That or sneak into the 8th spot (in which case imo, why even bother with the playoffs cause no one is gonna knock out Vanc in the first round – even if it Is the Kings who play them).

One would think they’d know better after three already disappointing showing vs the Blues. Oh well, nothing if not consistent.

Do the players hate their wives? Why else would they play so much better on the road?

It was the same thing last season.

@Seabass, Quite honestly, I think the idea is more like they’re making up for lost time when they return from the road, before their next game.

I think you’ve got something here. This is a young team, and from what I’ve seen, a lot of these guys have smokin hot womens. They may actually play worse at home because of access to said womens and the fatigue such nocturnal activity generates. These are pretty fit guys, I imagine they could put quite an extended effort into it, and frankly, if you could, why would you not?

Another thing…. with all the hubbub at Staples, with the lasers, the sound effects and music before they take the ice, it just makes a non showing like this look all the worse. I honestly think they (mgt.) would do better to do away with all the ‘stuff’ like that at home. Just let em skate out and play the game.

@number 6, That stuff really makes me uncomfortable. It looks “cheap” to me, particularly in someone else’s venue.

I just think the youth of our team showed tonight. I’m sure the team is tired, but the Blues played a tough game last night and didn’t seem to have a problem tonight. Tonight was a major mental breakdown by the players, and TM didn’t have them mentally prepared. Even if a team is exhausted, you can manage a game by making safe boring plays that eat clock and limit defensive zone time. I love and respect TM, but I’m sorry, the fans are right to boo an effort like that. And, you CANNOT tell me that, after years coaching in Philadelphia, that tonight was the first time you’ve been booed off the ice at the end of the 2nd period. He’s lucky he wasn’t coaching the Flyers with a home effort like that tonight- the fans would have thrown the leftover batteries from J.D. Drew at their team.

There isn’t anything to it. The Kings lost and just never got any quality zone time. They can’t win ‘em all. That Brown mentality has to change. These guys are going in one on 5 and trying to make a move. No one scores that way. STL had our number all year. Just be glad we don’t play them again. We’ll make up for these 4 against them with 4 wins against the Ducks.
