Kopitar postgame quotes

Anze Kopitar’s postgame thoughts…

(on the 4-0 road trip…)
KOPITAR: “It feels great. I think we learned from the last long road trip, when we went to Long Island and everybody was kind of ready to go home. It’s not like tonight we’re not ready to go home, but I think the approach was totally different than Long Island. Obviously to go 4-0 right now, it doesn’t happen very often. We approach it just like playoffs. It’s the playoffs for us. The playoffs are at stake, and you’ve got to play right to your potential every night. I think that’s what we showed, throughout these four games.”

(on Bernier being hard to beat in Nashville…)
KOPITAR: “Apparently, yeah. If he keeps going in this building like that, I think we will be in good shape.”

(on the strong second period, after a back-and-forth first…)
KOPITAR: “They always come out strong in this building. I thought we had a couple really good shifts in the first, and we obviously scored a goal, and then they came back. In the second, usually that’s where the game breaks. I thought we’ve had a couple good, solid second periods in a row now. Even in Dallas, I thought we really took it to them. It was just a good effort from everybody.”

    Yes! Now please, please prove me wrong guys. Kings come home to a team that is pretty much eliminated, whose played the night before vs. the Anaheim Duck-wives of Orange county and use the backup goalie. Those are the teams that scare me. Please prove us ALL wrong. GKG. Magic number is now 10. Yeeesss!

    @Paul G,

    If someone would just clean the ice at Staples with one of those NHRA jet Zamboni’s, then I bet we could stay on the road.

    @KingsFanFTW, ‘Yotes are only up by one with 20 mins. to go – just no 3 point game, please.

    @KDinUT, you know what’s funny? my friend Rita and i bet on all the games this time of year. so although tonight we’re each betting on our teams, we each kind of need the others to win lol

    DesertKing Reply:

    @KDinUT,

    Hey, at least it wasn’t a 3-point game. We have 2 games against SJ and we can take the Division lead ourselves.

    I’m not sure if I want the SJ to lose so we can catch up or the 6-8 teams to lose so we can open up some padding on just getting in!?

  6. Who knows? says:

    Is there anyway the Kings could stay at a hotel in Palm Springs or something. Then they take a bus to Staples, making it feel like an away game.

    @Who knows?,

    Greener stayed here in Palm Springs during the All-Star break. He stayed at a pretty nice place too.

    Odd hypothetical:

    let’s say Kings finish 4th and Preds finish 5th in the West. Considering Bernier’s strong play in Nashville and Quick’s apparent struggle, who does Murray start?

    I know Murray would go with his #1 and start Quicker, but you have to wonder – if Quick struggles the first two games, would he put Bernier in?

    Who would you start?

    @dbargaehr,

    I’d start the Ford.

    Newf Reply:

    @dbargaehr, i’d go with Bernie, easily. he’s just bee phenomenal against them this year. Quick really struggled against them last year. You don’t want to start Quicker just because, you want to go with who will get you the wins. Playoffs aren’t the time for experimenting. I think if TM wanted to see how Quick would do against NSH now, he would have started him tonight.

    @krash324, most were not against getting Penner , just not at the
    expense of roster players and the #1 prospect in the LEAGUE.
    A case could be made that Penner cost the most of any trade deadline
    players but he’s looking like he’s justifing that cost.

    krash324 Reply:

    @LaFan1967, I live in Calgary and the media here was awarding Edmonton with winning the trade. I could not disagree more, we dealt from a position of strength, and like you said no roster players and Schenn is in LA next year.

    @krash324,

    Just an observation from the last six games or so. Kopitar and Williams have elevated their play tremendously. I’m still not sure about Penner. Maybe I need to give it some more time, but right now he seems to be a little out of sync, like he’s not sure where to go without the puck. I also notice that he dished the puck way too soon instead of holding on to it. I have yet to see him throw his body into an opponent. Other than using his body for positioning, I wonder if there is a physical component to his game at all, especially in light of fact that Williams and Kopi have stepped up their physical play.

    The Kings are winning and so my observations are irrelevant, but hey, they are my observations.
