    @Cowboy Bill, How did you ever get on the bandwagon? He is one of the highest scoring players in the NHL this month, and is playing the best hockey of his career this year…two way hockey.

    [Reply]

    Cowboy Bill Reply:

    @mrbrett7, yes I agree, but before this month, he really wasn’t earning his $6 million plus salary this season. Maybe it’s the infusion of Penner into the lineup? Perhaps the trade has caused Kopitar to have restored faith. Earlier in the season he seemingly coasted a lot out on his shifts, not giving 100% like we all grew to expect. There were no flashy moves like back in his first two seasons – now that flash has returned, and he is really terrific with the puck, and without it. I now eat my own words!

    @Cortex949, Always root for Pacific Division foes to fall!

    [Reply]

    Token Reply:

    @Cortex949, That’s easy. If Sharks lose a few and we are in first place in the Pacific division, who cares about non-division teams.

    Go Hawks!!!

    [Reply]

    DesertKing Reply:

    @Token,

    Concur, but I still feel horrible rooting for the Hawks or the Knuckleheads. Even wathing the Sucks and Yotes right now is painful since we need the Sucks to win (not to mention having to listen to the Suck TV announcers).

    [Reply]

    Cortex949 Reply:

    @DesertKing, Ya but the outcome where the hawks win puts them above us and we still don’t catch the sharks for a week or so. Ahhhhhh!!! Why can’t east play west only for the last month of the season? Hahaha

  5. Only 5 more road games for our ROAD WARRIORS!

    [Reply]

    DesertKing Reply:

    @Kings win, Ducks lose,

    Unfortunately, I think we play better on the road right now. 3 of our lat 14 are against the Sucks which will be huge games.

    @DesertKing, Easy fix, check the team into a hotel in Santa Clarita and bus them in every day.

    @Token,

    Good plan and it has my support. Maybe find some way to import some cloudy east-coast type weather and Rich can post pictures from the hotel?

    I’m getting pumped about the playoffs. This is getting real interesting.

    [Reply]

    Scot Reply:

    @KC23,

    Same here. Wouldn’t mind seeing a Kings-Ducks playoff series. As much bad luck as I wish upon the Ducks every night, there is one reason I wouldn’t mind seeing them get into the playoffs, and that’s for Lubomir Visnovsky. Guy deserves to be in the playoffs, I’ll always love Lubo.

    [Reply]

    Hockey "G" Reply:

    @Scot, I agree with you KC23…a Kings-Ducks playoff series would be the best thing that could happen for southern California hockey and West coast hockey. The only downside would be having to hear the Sucks fans rooting for their team. The upside…rubing it in the faces of the Sucks fans when the Kings swept the series from them.:)

    [Reply]

    KingsFanFTW Reply:

    @Scot, yea i would agree when we play each other we already play like we are in a playoff

    I can see them playing like its a Stanley Cup finals would be awesome!!!

    For the Kings to boot them out and we say we are better than the ducks and show them the reason why :)

  7. 5buckcolonnadeticket says:

    Definitely cheer for the Blackhawks in regulation.

    Can’t really be cute, hope to win here and lose there with 1 or 0 point to game the system. Kings are barely in the playoffs in ANY place, the only way to guarantee a playoff spot is to win the Pacific, and there’s no way to predict who we play in any position. Kings could easily face the Blackhawks by finishing 3-6.

    Great game today, great road trip overall. Gotta keep going….

    Yeah, know the feeling. Both Yorkies bailed when Dallas tied it due to the cursing and yelling, but were back 20 seconds later to share in the joy and excitement.

    What a cool game to go to. First game in two years due to bad luck with travel involving my job. I only got 2 “Kings suck” comments. Not bad. Needless to say, I was surrounded by the enemy and when Dallas Scored with 40 seconds left I was catching some grief from my neighbors but 20 seconds later it was my turn to rub it in. Cool to see lots of King fans at the game. Fun to yell: Go Kings at each other.

    Getzlaf hit a Phoenix player with the puck by accident and then made sure he was O.K. and said he was sorry when the Phoenix player left the ice…Even if you hate the player it was a nice gesture to see…

    [Reply]

    xeropoint Reply:

    @neil, It was a classy move, for sure. There are plenty of players who respect eachother, even during hugely important games.

    [Reply]

    mrbrett7 Reply:

    @xeropoint, Saw the play on the NHL Network highlights…talk about your freak accidents? I would think Getzlaf would be sorry after what he has been through this year, although it’s not his fault. It does happen.

  17. Goring 19 says:

    O.K. On to Nashville guys, what do all you bloggers predict? Anyone? Anyone? Bueler? Bueler?….

    [Reply]

    xeropoint Reply:

    @Goring 19, The Pred’s are 4-4-2 in the last 10. Kings are 2-1 against them, this season. Both wins came earlier in the year. Kings are 7-2-1 last 10. Their game seems to be slowly coming together.

    I’m predicting a 3-2 win!

    [Reply]

    DesertKing Reply:

    @Goring 19,

    Ferris scores the game winning goal in the 7th period, but his goal is disallowed by Toronto after a review and a determination that truants are not allowed to play in games following the destruction of a classic Ferrari. Ferris is then traded to the Blackhawks since his best friend in the movie wears a B’Hawks jersey. His girlfriend is hired as a Dallas Stars cheerleader but suffers a mental breakdown following a last second goal by Zeus,

    [Reply]

    Arron Reply:

    @DesertKing,

    If you are talking about Ferris Beulers Day Off then his best friend in the movie was wearing a Redwings jersey.

    [Reply]

    DesertKing Reply:

    @Arron,

    Good point. Makes complete sense, wearing a Red Wings jersey in Chicago. Fortunately, as Kings fans, we don’t like either team.

    goldielocks Reply:

    @Goring 19, Both teams have good defense and goalie. But I believe the Kings have more fire power. So I predict Preds will try to take the bodies. It will be a very physical game. Look out for the unknown(Fisher), a big shot(Weber), and a dirty hit(Tootoo: the guy always leaves his feet).

    [Reply]

    KingsFanFTW Reply:

    @Goring 19, the way i look at it Bernier in the Net so i say win

    [Reply]

    Kings win, Ducks lose Reply:

    @Goring 19, I predict: Jonathan Bernier in Nashville, the scene of his best game last season (2-0 Kings, Parse with a rocket!)

    [Reply]

    KC23 Reply:

    @Goring 19, It’s a trap game for us to be sure. Before Penner I would say we’ll lose, but now all bets are off. I think it goes to OT and we lose in the SO.

    [Reply]

    Token Reply:

    @Goring 19, I predict Cliffy tosses Tootoo around like a rag doll as he removes his helmet followed by a serious beat down.

    First and fourth line will rock, third line will do it’s job and the second line will make the game interesting with turnovers.

    Richie will have at least one point on the night.

  20. SB Larry says:

    Anatomy of a game winner. watched that goal two dozen times on kings vision. poni, simmer and zues all would not be denied. They would not be pushed off the puck down deep. It happens so fast that you can’t even follow the puck in stop action. Then one of the most exilerating and comical celebrations I’ve ever seen from the kings. zues gets bowled over when doughty runs into morrow who then knocks down simmer. meantime poni, mitch and doughty are in the three way love fest when zues joins the party and simmer is still on his backside. simmer gets up up to make it a fivesome camera pans right. And the best part…you could hear a pindrop and that air sucked right out of the building!

    [Reply]

    HawKings Reply:

    @SB Larry, looked like the mite game that I was at later in the day, which makes it great. Grown men acting like kids. Awesome!

    [Reply]

    Shakes Reply:

    @HawKings,
    sounds like what the Kings player saw at practice the day earlier when Rich reported that their practice in Dallas was delayed as there was a kid’s hockey game before their rink time…and the Kings were cheering along with the parents for the little kids

  22. Kings Fan in Vegas says:

    I believe this may be the turning point in the season and the drive to the Cup.
    If the Kings dont score, we are headed for OT, Dallas gets at least 1 point and Kings are kicking themselves for the one that got away. Instead, huge swing of emotion, Kings believe anything is possible!!!

    [Reply]

    Shotongoal Reply:

    @Kings Fan in Vegas, as ugly as last Mondays game against Dallas was for the Kings (IMO the worst lose of the season), this game was waaaaay uglier if you are Dallas!!! I just hope the bloggers don’t freak out if they lose to the Preds. The Kings are right on schedule, well actually ahead of schedule, for where they need to be this month.

  23. Cynic says:

    I’ve had a long day. Just watched the DVR. WHAT A GAME! Kings and Dallas both look real good. Lots of heart by Dallas to never quit, incredible bounce back from our boys.

    This is one team I do NOT want to meet in the playoffs. I’m more worried about them than Vancouver! We can beat them in the playoffs, but we’d be pretty beat up after that series. The Stars just have no fear when it comes to offense. Dangerous team.

    Congrats boys! Off to Nashville for another 2!

    very positive game… once again the #1,3,4 line were all good and the #2 line was awful… Very disappointed to see the veterans messing up so much. Stoll and smyth were at the top +/- on the kings early in the season and now they are going down every single game… I would rather see the 3rd line be moved to #2 and let brown, smyth and stoll play less

    [Reply]

    Token Reply:

    @jason, I would swap the 2nd and 4th lines. Put ol’ man Smyth on a rest schedule.

    Cliffy, Lewis, Brown would rock hard as a second line, even if it was for just one period.

    The playoff train continues to roll on. Next stop Nashville and another 2 points that awaits.

    That was just a great hockey game..I thought they played a terrific road game. They limited Dallas’ opportunites and kept everything to the outside for most of the game. Just a bad break ties the game for Dallas. The boys didn’t hanf their heads and thanks to a fabulous effort by the Zueus line, they got the game winner. Much deserved!
    For the people who questioned the play of Simmer and his value as compared to Ricahrdson, I think the case was made yesterday once and for all. Simmer was moving his feet and was involved all game long. That line looks to be something special..especially in the checking dept. Poni has really turned his season around.

    It was interesting listening to the Dallas feed. They were extrmemly complimentary towards the Kings and how good they check. You could hear the frustration in their voices and they told you why…Dallas couldn’t generate anything thru the neutral zone. The Kings had active sticks and made the smart reads almost every time. Again, they played the road game to perfection.

    Quick question to those who saw it on Center Ice…did anyone else have problems with the transmission feed thoughout the game? Picture was breaking up constantly. Because of it, I missed one of the Kings goals. Not happy at all!

    [Reply]

    Michael J. Reply:

    @nykingfan,

    My son lives in Washington State and often get the opposing team’s feeds also. he gets a very different perspective than those of us in SoCal do. Often the other team’s broadcasters make comments about how well the Kings play without the puck, etc. I think such perspective would bode well for many of us who need to learn the intricacies of the game.

    Poni seems to be playing like he did just prior to first injury this year. He is one of those players whose contribution to the club cannot be measured from a glance at the score sheet.

    [Reply]

    nykingfan Reply:

    @Michael J.,

    I find it interesting to hear the take of other announcers and what they see. We uasually get the Kings feed and there’as always a certain amount of “homerism” when it comes to your team. This gives a different perspective. The only problem is most of the announcers are horrible around the league and have every little knowledge or interest in how the Kings are playing. Thankfully the Stars anmnouncers are amongst the best in the league.

    So true about Poni. His value cannot be stated without weatching the checking part of his game. He seems to have finally separated himself from Frolov as far as consistency.
    It needs to continue on a nightly basis. That’s what Fro couldn’t do.

    I am getting sick and tired of all the neg comments on this board. That is why I stayed away the past few days. A win is a win. 2 Points. We have to keep getting the 2 points. If we all can’t stay positive it is taking the fun away from the site. Rich is awesome for putting this together with the Kings. Has anyone else noticed that PP Goals equal wins? The last 3 games we have had PP successes and wins. Good job to all the coaches! Heading to Nashville tomorrow to route for the Kings. Hoping for another Kings win (4-0 record for me on the road this season) and complete the perfect trip. Stay positive please and GKG!
