Dewey defeats Truman?

Things happen with headlines. I’ve made more than my share of mistakes while writing them, to be certain. But I had to laugh this morning at the WashingtonPost.com headline on the Kings-Detroit game story from the Associated Press. It read, “Red Wings Rally Past Kings in Overtime.” My first thought was…I know it’s been a long season, but did I miss that much of the game? The story is here, but since it’s likely to be corrected at some point, here’s a screen shot…

All in good fun. Like I said, mistakes happen. Keeping with the “good fun” theme of the morning, there’s this. How should I put this? I know people in Detroit don’t appreciate it when people make fun of their city. In reality, the piling-on probably does get gratuitous at times. But knowing the city’s reputation, why in the world would they put up this sign in Joe Louis Arena? Really? Promoting the wait times at a hospital emergency room?
