Dustin Penner’s postgame thoughts…
(on his goal…)
PENNER: “I think, as the games get tighter down the stretch, those are the type of goals you have to score. It’s not going to be tic-tac-toe nearly as much as you like or you think is going to happen. It’s getting pucks to the net, traffic in front. … Everybody’s focus and concentration is ramped up this time of year and it continues to get even harder to score goals.”
(on the Kings’ penalty killing…)
PENNER: “The penalty kill was great. It’s too bad we couldn’t bury one for them. They worked so hard for us, to give us an opportunity to win, and we had a chance to put the game away on the power play but sometimes the puck doesn’t go in.”
(on his first two games with the Kings…)
PENNER: “I’ve only been here for two games, but I like the intensity, I like the concentration the team has. This was about the same level as the game against the Coyotes, if not more so.”
(on his chemistry with teammates so far…)
PENNER: “We got one goal right off the first five minutes of the game. I don’t think, if you asked either of them, they think we had the game we could as a line, and what the team needs from us as a line. We have to be better; I have to be better.”
