Jonathan Quick’s postgame thoughts…
(on the game…)
QUICK: “They’re a good team. Don’t get me wrong, they’re a great team. I think we did a lot of good things at the beginning of the game. We came out and scored the first goal and then I let up a bad goal, kind of took the momentum out of our end and put it in their end a bit. Next thing you know it’s 2-1. For me, I didn’t get better unfortunately. They ended up piling up a little bit there.”
(on Detroit’s skill level…)
QUICK: “They’re not the only team that can do that but they are a very skilled, very talented team. When we make mistakes, they capitalize.”
(on moving on to the next game…)
QUICK: “Well it’s something you’re supposed to do. It’s something that you can’t control; the game is over. You have to learn from your mistakes. We weren’t good enough tonight. We can’t win the game tomorrow. The game is over, just have to move on. We’ve been playing really well lately. Personally, I did think that we played really well at the beginning half of the game.”
Can someone explain to me why Murray never pulls Quick until 6 goals are scored against him. It was obvious from the start that he was off his game. It happens but ordinarily the coach does something. Besides, half the people in the lower bowl were wings fans and was not fun

@poe, he waited for 6 goals and is saying that he was considering it after the 1st goal was scored. TM hurts my head sometimes…
and pretty much half the people in the entire arena were Wings fans.

I like that Quick doesn’t need anyone to tell him he gave up a bad one. TM put him in next game and let him redeem himself.

Yes, the ARE a very skilled team. They play IN FRONT of the net and ALWAYS a man standing in front of the goalie! Novel idea!

At least Quicker was man enough to admit he was a bit “off” tonight. He always seems to tell it like it is. Props to him.

Quick is a good goalie, actually the best we’ve had for the last several years. But every player can have a bad day/game. It’s up to the coach to notice that and to make adjustments. Murray needed to pull Quick after 1st period. First 2 goals were soft goals. Coach stuff should recognize small details and be proactive.
Last year here in LA we play Wings and lost with 2:1. We scored goal in 3rd on 51st or 52nd shot, I don’t remember now, so after that score was 1:1 and there were few min left. Detroit started to attack and Helm scored about a min left in 3rd. What coach should’ve done is to take a time out.
So pay attention And one more Jamie Kompon please take a note on Detroit PP.

All the excuses in the world won’t help you Mr. Quick!! Get your act together if this team is going to go anywhere. I’m tired of your excuses. Focus on what your doing and stay in the net. You are the worst puck handling goalie I have ever seen. The Red Wings could have got a beach ball past you last night. You have to be more consistant, one game your the geatest goalie in the world. The next game you look like crap.

@Jim Martin, Wow Jim! A little over the top today. Kid is 4th in GAA, tied for 2nd in wins, 6 shutouts and is about 6th in points for team while in goal. Not to mention your ‘tired of excuses’ comment. My man has never made an excuse for a lose and I cannot recall him ever taking credit for a win.
