    [Reply]

    Cynic Reply:

    @Paul G, I disagree here although I’d like to hear your opinion why. Richie is plenty fast and he and Simmer are deadly on the forecheck. THis allows Kopi to play the f3 both ways and it suits his game better.

    Lewis in 51 games is 2G 4A 6Pts and a -11. He’s not as effective on the wing as Richie. Lewis has been pretty decent defensively, but with those states, I shudder to think what Oscar Moller could have done in those 51 games.

    Just my opinion.

    I like it. It also moves Richardson to first line and Clifford to third line. More playing time for the guys I like.

    I give credit for the Kings taking a chance on Sturm. He is a first class player, but it was too much to expect him to be in first class form after the knee injury. When it was apparent he was not going to be that type of player to help out this year, they had to let him go and bring in someone new or someone from the Kings system.

    [Reply]

    LAPD line Reply:

    @BluLiner,
    Richardson belongs on the 4th line… Westgarth belongs in the press box, or farther away….. 1st line LW should be….. ok, so I haven’t got all the answers…

    jason Reply:

    @LAPD line, lol i agree… No one believes me but poni can play LW on #1 line. Richardson +/- sucks and hes been given chances to get it up… I think harold should be on wing instead of westgarth.. LAPD line Reply:

    @ColoKingFan,
    I don’t really have a problem with Richie on the first line for this game only, especially since we are forced to shuffle that line again anyway, and he does play well vs the Avs. In general, though I think Richardson is ideally a 4th liner.

    [Reply]

    ColoKingFan Reply:

    @LAPD line,

    I’ve thought a move was coming all along, Dean is just playing leverage to act like they aren’t desperate but lets face it, scoring is the issue and no one in MAN is going to fix that. He put Sturm on waivers and sent Lokti to MAN to give the Kings roster flexibility so you have to think something is coming (whether that something is Tim Connelly or Brad Richards, well thats anyones guess). I just hope that with the Caps claiming Marco and Lokti getting hurt that Dean’s bluff hasn’t been called and the Kings are going to have to give up Schenn to get a FWD.

    @kopifan(from hfboards), It’s cool you’re a Kopi fan, I think we all are, but Kopi is still not playing to his potential and it should not matter on the whole who he is playing with. Look at Patrick Marleau of the Sharks. Last season he was a BEAST playing with Heatley and Thornton. This season, plaing with the same guys, he’s not even close to last season’s work.

    What happened?

    Kopi has to learn to do things on his own FIRST and utilize his lilnemates to enhance what he already does. Then and ONLY then will he be the 6.8 millin dollar man we are paying for.

    How much would you guys be willing to give up to pry Rick Nash out of Columbus? Can you imagine Kopitar, Williams and Nash on a first line? Quick, Doughty and Kopitar would be off limits for me, but beyond that I would have to consider giving up any two prospects, plus any 1 starter. Too much? Not enough? I make no claims to be even an armchair GM, but i would really love to see Nash come here.

    @LAPD line,
    Schenn, 2011 1st Rd pick, Hickey, Simmonds would be a good start to negotiations, but probably not enough to get the deal done. We have the cap space now. Nash would be the perfect fit.

    Scot Reply:

    @LAPD line,

    I’d trade Schenn for him. Schenn, Richardson, Voynov, our 1st Round Pick this year, and 2nd Round pick next year. I’d do that. But I’m a fan, not a GM, so Columbus would possibly want more! Maybe our 1st Round pick next year too, rather than our 2nd. Would you do that? Rick Nash cannot be over-valued, he’s a top 10 NHL talent.

    Scot Reply:

    @LAPD line,

    My Richardson might have to be Lewis instead. Re: art, Lombardi might balk at including Simmonds if Schenn is being traded. Just my opinion, but I suppose it is Rick Nash we’re talking about.

    It also should be noted that Columbus said he is untouchable. But it is fun to play pretend GM!

    [Reply]

    Scot Reply:

    I don’t think it would be that bad of an idea, but probably won’t happen. I think there’s a decent chance he is claimed by someone.

    [Reply]

  18. jonsey says:

    Former 1st round pick and point every other game career Rob Schremp is on waivers. Pick him up.

    Trade Bernier and a forward to FLA for Vokoun and Booth.

    First or second line LW in Booth; insurance in Vokoun.

    It’s selfish to keep Bernier locked up without a chance to play. Like what happened to Toskala under Kipper and Nabokov or Kipper under Nabokov.

    We don’t need him. Quick is our guy. Quick and Vokoun this playoff year. Then give Vokoun the choice to sign cheap next year or kick him to the curb and sign any number of the other guys who will be around Conklin, etc.

    We obviously need offense. We have all year long.

    It wouldn’t hurt to carry Schermp around as a dangler / Belanger type guy for insurance and Booth would reaslly help out up front. The guy scored 31 goals at this level and might again.

    Richardson was our only option on LW1 tonight?

    That’s because we have too many Richardsons and not enough Booths.

    [Reply]

    ColoKingFan Reply:

    @jonsey, i guess the validity of this idea depends on who the fwd is… and richardson is great on line 1 tonight, however, if he’s there against detroit on monday, we got problems.

    @jonsey,

    Berniers statistics are by a pretty solid margin better than Quicks in their last 6 games respectively.

    Bernier is the future goaltender of this team and if Dean Lombardi trades HIM he deserves to be fired on the spot.

    [Reply]

    jason Reply:

    @Josh N., I love how quick is a top 5 goalie, he is in his second season, has played in the playoffs, he keeps getting better, hes played over 40 games compared to berniers 15 or whatever and kings fans are still saying bernier is the kings future goalie.. Quick is 25 and bernier is 22 lol… Berniers stats sucked at the beginning of the season when Quick was hot.. All I know is that Quick is the kings future. It would be too chancy to trade Quick and hope bernier does just as well. That being said I think its a waste to have both of them. I think bernier can start but not over a top 5 NHL goalie like quick.

    Anyway, Sturm would still be a King if Lokti’s injury happened one night earlier. BUMMER!

    jason Reply:

    @MustDigCash, I wouldnt say richardson is terrible but hes not that great.. He either scores a hatrick or does nothing. Hes played with top lines but his +/- still sucks because he blows coverages a lot. I think hes good to have around for the 3rd or 4th line but kings need a real #1 LW… That being said all 3 lines have guys that can score so it may work.. I can see the #1 line getting owned by other #1 lines though

    [Reply]

    MustDigCash Reply:

    @jason,

    True, he’s not terrible but, like you said, at best a 3rd liner. Just frustrated by this whole Sturm/Lokti thing… The first line needs a true playmaker. The State of the Kings: Not Good.

    Whatever plan “I’m the smartest guy in the room” Lombardi had to improve the Kings blew up this morning. He took a chance, gambled, by sending Lotki down and putting Sturm on waivers. Both maneuvers have exploded in his face.

    Lotki’s only a phnoe call away, if you happen to be calling the hospital. And Sturm will be in the lineup Saturday, true, but wearing a Capitol’s uniform.

    No blame here, it’s just really bad Karma. There isn’t time, in my opinion, for slow and methodical Lombardi to move quickly enough to recover, I fear. If anything, we might see another dynamic duo in the Modine/Halprin model. Nothing more.

    If someone is having a bad year in the Kings organ-eye-zation it’s Dean Lombardi.

    But, not to be outdone, Murray once again installs Westgarth on the 4th line. I politely asked a while back for Rich to ask Murray specifically what advantages the Kings have when Westgarth plays. It appears I missed his answer.

    My prediction for this afternoon. Westy does nothing, not even any “enforcing”, and will sit out the 3rd period (as usual) leaving someone else to be double shifted to cover for him. This improves our chances of winning how?

    @threepwood, No one take’s those factoid and stats for granted, but when all of that is in jeopardy because we’re lacking personnel it becomes a problem. It is DL’s responsibility to get this team what it needs, that problem has been the search for a scoring LW and possibly just another scorer/sniper of any position just to improve offense. Well with us losing one today, which I don’t mind as long as there was a back up or contingency plan. I wish he would’ve lined up a trade to coincide with the wave move so that by this morning whether someone claimed Sturm or not we’d still be getting what we need. This is really upsetting to me as a fan, that our management is addressing the issues. And yes, for the rest of the trade market till monday DL will have his back against a wall and buying from the position of weakness. Since he’s so proud and doesn’t like being exploited on his weaknesses, he wont get any serious deals done I suppose (Unless we end up dumping everything into it) i.e Schenn, Simmer, other prospects and more.

    @TheRussianKing,

    I would be willing to wager DL has something done already. Would be a bad move to make an announcement before a western conf. game.

    Just a thought

    @TheRussianKing,

    Actually I think PLENTY of people take those things for granted and don’t understand or care to understand what had to happen in order to get us in the position we are in as an organization.

    DL needs to make meaningful moves – or not make them at all.

    The definition of meaningful is a move that gets you closer to a Stanley Cup – not a trade that simply gets us past round one of the playoffs.

    HockeyNerd Reply:

    @TheRussianKing, Who said we are lacking Personnel? You did, but you are wrong. What we are lacking is skilled forwards with speed, and we ALL know this, yes even DL, and most importantly (and unfortunately) the other 29 GM’s.

    And despite everyone here “knowing” that he is not going to make a meaningful trade all we can do is wait and see. I know everyone here is impatient, but we will know in less than 48 hours……

    HockeyNerd Reply:

    @IceGuy, So the Kings are not in good shape even though they have lost only once in regulation in their last 12, DL’s plan has backfired even though we don’t know what it is, TM is trying to compete with DL to get the Kings to lose, playing Westgarth is bad because we have a crystal ball and know he won’t do anything, Westgarth is also useless because someone didn’t answer a question on this blog, and you know for sure DL is not planning a trade to get any players that would help.

    Did I miss anything?

    @HockeyNerd,

    Just one thing, the fact that there is ‘no blame’ – only bad karma to explain the King’s ‘woes’…

    @threepwood, Forgot that one. “No blame”, then go on to blame DL……

    I think TM has the wool pulled over his eyes. Westward is so slow on the rush, TM believes he’s watching a defensively responsible forward.

    seeing that we playing the Avs, Richie will have a good game lol maybe his last game in a kings uni? As for the trade front,if Deano is gonna bring in a player or 2 of semi or top caliber, which roster players will be gone? IMO Richie,Poni,Zeus,Stoll,Lewis,Drewskie or Martinez are the only roster players i see DL willing to move. If he has no intention of re-signing Williams than we can throw his name in the hat too.

    HockeyNerd Reply:

    @Ryno, I’ve been wondering that too. Of course then you gotta find a SECOND line LW. Wouldn’t want to be either DL or TM right now, if this team misses the playoffs or makes an early exit I’m sure they’re gone and I really don’t see who would do any better….

    Just want to explain some things to people who do not know what happens during the game. Terry has played all his player on different lines all season long which gives players a chance to get to know each other. Now I notice Terry looking for match up problems for the oppoent all the time. I see him change lines during the game. What I’m tring to say is this. Kings are hard to depend. Every night it’s a different hero. Don’t complain about the lines. Every night Kings watch video of the oppoents and lines are matches are explored and thats how lines are put together. During the game player tell the coach how he thinks he can go aganist certain guy and be succesful. Kings should be getting some help soon on the trade deadline. Strum is gone. Kings know what they are doing and I’m just a fan who wises they win the cup. I trust everything about the Kings because Dean and Kings coaching staff is going to do what is best for the club.

    Kings wanted Sturm claimed or at least did not care. Why else not wait until after game for waivers. Saves cap money and he was Ronning us any way. Kozun, King or Moller on there way. Trade always possible.
