Wayne Simmonds’ postgame thoughts…
(on breaking out of his scoring drought…)
SIMMONDS: “I just haven’t been getting a lot of bounces, I’ve been going to the net hard and tonight I just was getting bounces, trying to get my shots off quick, and as a result of that, I got two goals.”
(on scoring goals on a variety of plays…)
SIMMONDS: “Obviously we were trying to manufacture chances the best way we know how. I think we did a good job in the neutral zone, turning pucks over. That one goal, that was obviously a nice play by Smytty and Brownie.”
(on winning the first game back at home…)
SIMMONDS: “I think it’s huge. It establishes our game at home. Last time we were at home, we didn’t play too well, so we thought about that and we wanted to put the right mark on it right from the start this time.”
(on the tight Western Conference standings…)
SIMMONDS: “We’re going have to scratch and claw for everything. Whether you get one point or two points, every one is valuable and we just have to come to play every night.”
Hey Wayne whatever you did, drank, ate before the game you oughta replicate it cuz man you were on FIRE tonight!

These are good comments…we didn’t do a good job on the last homestand, so we had to start this one out right…we’re going to have to scratch and claw for everything, have to come and play every night…
A far cry from “all we do is win.” Good job. Heads, not inflated.

Way to open up those flood gates Simmers. I think everybody was pulling for you to break through, because the last time Brownie scored 2, it didn’t make everyone as happy as they are right now about your 2. Good job tonight.

@Dominick, Didn’t Brown get his 2 goals in a loss? Brown played well tonight. And for the haters Brown is ranked 9th best rw in the league according to T.S.N.

@Cynic, That’s his favorite saying. Sometimes the way he talks
is like those Harvard guys that invented the internet.

And Simmers is exhibiting that tough/chippiness that we saw the last couple of years from him. I loved every time he mixed it up in front of their net. You can tell it made Kopi a little uncomfortable, but AK needs to get familiar with the push and shove. He needs to learn to play with a little borderline aggressiveness. I think WS on AK’s line will bring that out!!! Don’t be afraid to get a glove in your mug, give what you get and you’ll get even stronger Kopi!!!
Build some team toughness going into the playoffs and watch out!!! Nobody is going to want to match up with us in a 7-gamer!!!

Do they call Simmonds “Night Train” because he snores?
