The Wild went on the power play with 1:59 remaining, then pulled their goalie for a 6-on-4 advantage, but Michal Handzus won a faceoff in the Kings’ zone. After a scramble, Anze Kopitar momentarily got control of the puck and whipped a shot into the empty Minnesota net from the middle of the circles to give the Kings a 4-2 lead.
With the win, the Kings moved into fifth place in the Western Conference. More from the locker room to come…

@McDonalds, excellent effort by all in purple and gold…….
so it begs the question who are you willing to give up for a top 6 forward now??
(*if you change the locker room or combinations all things go in the tank)
TM has said he likes this team and the way they stick together, so who is it??
(*do you suggest youth, speed or experience, or one of the goalies)
Not so easy anymore is it, be real…..this team has a good of chance 1st of making the playoffs as last years stanley cup winners and they could go at least two rounds, oh ya with another top 6 forward we could go two rounds also)
DL/TM don’t do it for what???
(will it really improve us right now or set us back and have some guys watching the new savour do it all whom ever he may be

@Harty, Of course the Kings need a top six forward, but maybe when saying that some believe it is a 40 goal guy. The kings need a LW good for 25 goals a season and has speed. Just the threat of speed will open the ice up more for the Kopi line. There are players like that in the league that can be had for prospects and picks.

But there were goals that he needs to learn from and how to read them like Quick does. Quick is a good role model for him and not to shabby is Ranford either as far as goalie coach.

The only thing I didn’t get tonight, was why are DD2 and Greener paired with Kopi’s line, an Doughty/Mitch are paired with the 4th line? I’d much rather see our best D unit, with some mobility and offensive ability teamed up with what is ideally our scoring line. But hey, we won so whatev’s I guess.

Purple and Gold is awesome to behold. Nice win for Bernier. Simmonds straight up beat Backstrom twice. Well done on such a great night for Kings Fans.

@Goring 19, That’s true. Too bad they couldn’t put the old crown in the ice. I guess that just wouldn’t be the The Forum.

And we can be hero’s for just one day.

The kids looked good tonight..
As a side note: Schenn now has 43 points in only 18 games this year. Man amongst boys out there…

@CanadianKing, He will be centering a line on the Kings next year. Pencil it in now.

@KC23, my guess is the line that Zeus used to center, because my guess is Zeus won’t be back. UFA and all

Great win on the 2nd of a back to back…

I would like to think that with the Kings Poll question, and Foxie and Miller bringing up Richards name and insisting that “somebody is going to get him”, to close out the Kings live segment that they might be hinting a little. Maybe it’s just wishfull thinking.
It would make us sudden contenders though.

@Dominick, We will get him I think but for Simmonds and Bernier.
Do we want that?

@Slim, I don’t think DL would be that crazy. Dallas is running out of time and the Kings have plenty of prospects and draft picks to start a rebuild. I don’t se a roster player being moved.

@Dominick, Besides, we have too many centers in stock. If DL somehow can get Richards, I hope he makes 3 way deal with Parise.

@goldielocks, that’s what i thought. i say forget him. the guy’s an awesome player but we need someone to hit the ground runnin.
I just hope JW doesn’t get frustrated with his new line. The other 3 lines worked well tonight, though, so I’m not sure what can be done about it.

what a great win and what a bunch of great goals! keep it up Kings!

Da boys r back in town!!!!!!!!! GO KINGS!!!!!!! Great win against a very good Wild team. Every point matters, every point counts. And the Kings are making the most for their efforts.
Attention DL, unless you can get a top six for a bag of used pucks (which I sincerely doubt), I’d say leave it alone, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! And the Kings definitely aren’t broke, they’re well oiled and on a roll.
LGK!!!

Browns pass to DD was the play that made me cheer!

Great boys!! Dont think we really don’t need to disturb the chemistry in our locker room. I heard from Foxy about Brad Richards but he has a concussion. i think we will acquire someone without any movement with our current roster. Bernie looked pretty good tonight.

@pat, upon closer inspection bernie looked horrible tonight and very rusty. just cause he got the win didn’t mean he did it cleanly. and i’m not just referring to the bogus goal that was slid under the five hole. he just wasn’t crisp, as was to be expected from a guy who hasn’t played in an actual game in a while
[Reply]
Mcflurry’s for everyone at the game at least haha. Brownie was a beast, why dosen’t Kopitar look at where Simmonds scored his goals tonight… at the hashmarks, thats where Kopitar should be…acception to the opposite end hash marks shot for the 170 foot short handed empty net goal.

@McDonalds, I don’t think so. He is just coming back from being hurt and it takes a person a few games to get back in the swing of thing and he still has to learn the system of the kings. But he is a good player.

Just got back from first trip to staples. That was awesome. Great game, great win(check that, HUGE win). Sat near the packers(Matthews Rodgers), saw Luc laughing it up with Brendan Shanahan and Taylor swift is a cutey. But best part…by far the 2 points.

If the Kings acquire Richards, we will have two Richie’s on the Kings. This will create a rift in space time. A wormhole will open up, and the Caretaker will fling the entire team (or just TM and DL) into the Delta Quadrant, whereupon it will take them 7 (of 9) years to get back to Earth going at maximum warp, stopping only to fight the Borg.

Still lots of hockey to play, I don’t like making fun if other teams struggling, especially when the Kings have been prone to huge collapses all year long. Love em still, but we still have 21 games left. It’s either opportunity standing wise or missed opprotunity like our miserable January homestand.
I do think we need another 1 or 2 forwards to get us further in a playoff series, if we make it.
Go Kings Gi!

Tonight:
-Simmer’s best game, two nice goals, and TM should of put him on the ice in the last 2 minutes to get his trick
-The Williams tripping call was total BS
-DD shot the Kings in the foot with his late 2nd period penalty but redeemed himself in the third with his goal
-DD2 isn’t looking that great, but it’s his only 2nd game back, let the rust come off and he will be back to his old self again
-I really like Mitchell with DD, so you can have at least one stay-at-homer in the back
-Please let this be the last time Sturm and Simmer are on the first line, and get back to the old 1st line again
-The power play #1 shift was abysmal. Might as well of been statues who were cycling for the sake of it. God, someone make a move to get open, and someone SHOOT THE PUCK already!!!!!!!!!!!!
[Reply]
I passed the puck for a buck booth and saw it was a signed Westy puck they were giving away. I thought to myself, they’d have to give ME a buck to take that puck.
Then they showed the guy who won it–he said he’d never won anything before. I don’t know what’s worse, never having won anything before, or having won a Westy puck. I think that will bring bad luck to whoever possesses it for the rest of their life. For one thing, you may NEVER SCORE (with the ladies) if you have it in your house
[Reply]
Our offense is like my golf game. The long game is never clicking at the same time as the short game. So as 1st and 2nd lines are not both clicking. Williams and smyth have not been producing. Poni is not worth the money. Bernier’s game is not tight but I will cut him some slack since he does not see the games. Sturm is unimpressive the whole year. Seems like we could make a fourth line that puts up some points with the speed and decent offensive skill.
[Reply]
Not a dominant team but they have of kate found ways to win. Maybe next year DL can assemble the pieces for a dominant team who has the makings of a contender

Unbelievable! Not one “Lotki please come back” or “TM has to go”. How can that be? Oh well, when the Kings lose one (and that’s going to happen) we can all look forward to those awful chants once again.
