Drew Doughty’s postgame thoughts…
(on Willie Mitchell’s goal…)
DOUGHTY: “It was huge. I guess you could say he’s more of a defensive defenseman, but he has a big shot. When he gets it off, and when he has the time and space to let it go, I don’t think too many goalies are going to stop it. It’s that hard. He played a good game today, overall, and it was a huge win for us.”
(on holding the lead after Mitchell’s goal…)
DOUGHTY: “I thought we maybe struggled for the first 10 or so minutes with that, and then after that we kind of locked it down. They had a few good opportunities in the second, but besides that I thought Quicker played really well, obviously, and came up with some big saves. I thought overall, defensively, our team did a good job of locking it down with that 3-2 lead.”
(on the tight Western Conference…)
DOUGHTY: “Every two points is just so important. I think I finally figured out to not even look at the standings. If you don’t win, there’s not even any point in looking at it, because you’re not going to move up. We’ve just got to continue to keep doing this, treat every game like it’s a playoff game. If we win 95 percent of the games from here on out, I think we’ll have a good spot in the playoffs.”
95%? Now we’re talking Drew! That’s 21 of 22.
But hey, I’m sure if it happens, all they naysayers will say we’ll get swept in the 1st round…

@wavesinair, Well, if the DO win 21 of 22 games to close it out, I’ll go out on a limb and predict they will NOT be swept in the first round. They’ll drop a heartbreaker series 4-1 to Nashville

Actually he`s wrong. They moved up twice past week after losing and not playing. They just have to hope everyone else loses too, ha ha.

@tantrum4, It was weird to see the Kings not play but our position in the standings goes up just b/c we are tied with wins and have more games remaining. That’s how tight things are in the West.
Didn’t that happen last Saturday b/c the Ducks got shellacked by the Blues? That must drive GM’s and coaches especially crazy!

I’m a happy Kings win. Go Kings Go. Kings are going to win the cup this year. One word. System. Kings are the same page.

Win 95% of the games left. That’s a high standard. Not unheard of though. Herems to a long win streak drew.

@cpmc29, 95% of the last quarter of a season? I’d like to see what team did that.

Why did not Doughty pass earlier to Sturm!!! Why! Sturmo would have scored… I thought DD did some bad decisions tonight..but he has a high low-level if you know what I mean..
[Reply]
I think DD has had about 3 bad games (for him) in a row.
