    Simmers seemed to have a lot more to say than the other undisputed profilers did. I liked this one best so far.

    He’s still a skinny kid.

    [Reply]

    Scot Reply:

    @Dominick,

    My buddy is one of the guys who sets up the Castle the players come out of before each period, so he is alawys around the players, and he said Sim has the skinniest chicken legs he has ever seen! And you can see in the video, his arms are skinny too. Hopefully he fills out and beefs up a bit over the next few seasons. He is already slippery, quick and has decent strength, if he beefs up, he’ll be tough for the oppositions to handle.

    And yeah, for sure he’s got a lot to say, he’s a good kid.

    I like Wayne a lot. I have to admit though, I am a bit disappointed with his season so far both offensively and his overall game.

    [Reply]

    CB14 Reply:

    @Mr. Nuff, He seems to miss Frolov alot. I know Fro didn’t produce alot last year, but he had offensive skills that worked well with Simmonds. Simmonds played well with Kopi this year also, so it seems he steps up his offensive production when put with creative offensive players.

    [Reply]

    Scot Reply:

    @CB14,

    I didn’t know anyone missed Frolov!

    [Reply]

    Dominick Reply:

    @Scot,
    Frolov is still one of the top scorers for the Kings who are still active in the NHL.
    06-07 35 goals Frolov
    09-10 34 goals Kopitar
    06-07 34 goals Cammillari
    07-08 33 goals Brown
    07-08 32 goals Kopitar
    08-09 32 goals Frolov
    08-09 27 goals Kopitar
    In his career with the Kings he scored 168 goals 213 assists and 381 points good for 11th in the Kings all time history. Kopitar is currently tied with the great Ziggy Palffy with 340 points for 14th, Brown is 20th, Visnovsky is 21rst, Cammillari is 30th among Kings players who are still active in the NHL. So yea there are some who still remember what he did for us and miss him.

    Token Reply:

    @Scot, When Fro was on the third line with Zeus and Simmonds, each guy was in the 18+ goal range, even when Fro had mediocre years.

    Enter this season and substitute Poni for Fro – that line no longer scores.

    Fro simply kept the puck on the boards a second or few longer than Poni can and made Simmer and Zeus better.

    Bkrs-Bud Reply:

    @CB14, Fro produced 51 points that isn’t bad for 3rd line winger i wish poni would put up 51 points.

    [Reply]

    CB14 Reply:

    @Bkrs-Bud, Good point, I didn’t realize he had that many points last year. I guess I thought he didn’t produce many points because his goal production dropped so much. 32 to 19.

    friarking Reply:

    @Bkrs-Bud, I wish he’d put up 15 points. lol. Halpern and Modin have more than Poni and they were 1/3 the price.

    Scot Reply:

    @Token, @Dominick

    Once again, people completely just flat out miss humor on here and take everything SOOOOOOOOOO seriously.

    Was Frolov not the most enigmatic, underachieving, inconsistent, frustrating, “don’t know what you’re gonna get tonight” forward?

    Thanks for all your stats, but I don’t miss Frolov any more now because of it.

    I’m done posting on here. I’ll read Rich’s articles, but most of you guys are a waste of time. Some of you find any way to disagree with me, just to disagree with me. Grow up.

    @Token,

    It’s just a waste of time, if you think about it.

    I watch the games, and hope we win.

    I don’t need people I don’t know to hear my feelings, nor do I need to hear theirs.

    Nothing that gets said on here (opinions, stats, complaints, praises, who should go down, what lines should/shouldn’t be broken up) will change what happens in the games.

    Think Jim Fox or any broadcasters get on here and read any of this or post anything? No, because they are grown ups, they talk about what actually happens, not what could happen or should have happened. It really is a waste of time.

    I appreciate all the work Rich Hammond puts in, and I will continue to read everything he posts, I just won’t scroll any further, don’t need to. Say and think what you want.

    Dominick Reply:

    @Scot,
    I wasn’t being anything with you. If a poster responds to your post, it’s because he found your comments interesting enough to say something about it. You made a comment and I was just pointing out his stats. I personally loved the guy. I’d do the same with anyone else who made that comment. No need to be offended, because there was nothing offensive in what I posted.

    If I knew Simmonds personally, I’d be really proud of him. Scarborough is a rough/tough area and it looks like his family never had a lot of money when he was growing up. Good for him.

    [Reply]

    puck73 Reply:

    @kevin from toronto, I doubt it is rougher then compton, Boyle Heights, or Watts.

    [Reply]

    Who knows? Reply:

    @puck73, Dude.. I live in Compton. It’s not that bad. I’ve also lived in Watts and I go to school in what is considered the Compton/Watts border. It is also not that bad.

    [Reply]

    puck73 Reply:

    @Who knows?, If you dont consider Compton or Watts rough areas, then since you live there maybe you can tell us what YOU consider a “Rough” Area. I was born in Baldwin Hills in the 60′s, and at that time it was a good area. Our family moved out by 1969, and believe me it was drastically changing. So again, I ask..what is your definition of a “Rough” Area?

    Stuart Reply:

    @Who knows?, a place never feels as bad as it is when you’re living in it. It’s usually not until you’re removed from the situation that you realize how bad it really was or how unsafe you should’ve really felt.

    Not saying you’re wrong about Compton/Watts being a bad place, but I lived/stood/still have tons of family in Boyle Heights, and I remember growing up (early 80s) not being able to hang out outside after dark because a bunch of WF (local gang) heads kicked it at a house three doors down. I don’t remember there ever being gunshots fired at our house but we never stood too long by the windows. As a child I felt safe, but I was totally clueless as to how dangerous or messed up the situation was.

    So “rough” is hard to agree on for some.

    Kevin from Toronto Reply:

    @puck73, no it’s probably not. but compared to the rest of the GTA (greater toronto area) it’s (scarborough) considered the rough area. most of the crime takes place in that end

    I am really getting sick and tired of DL doing absolutely nothing at the deadline. He doesn’t wana give up prospects, but it is clear we are loaded with multiple prospects and it is even more clear that we have a HUGE need for a winger OR TWO to play with Kopitar. This constant line shuffling is not the answer, but TM can only do so much. I know there are a few more days before the deadline, but still we have to do something, we need help on the offensive end.

    [Reply]

    KingsFanFTW Reply:

    @OCKingsFan, yea i understanding he is really trying but he has to get trade Schenn

    i bet later in the Future going to be DL fault for trading Schenn

    It is wed am .
    I am SO SO disapointed that we have done NOTHING to address our lack of scoring.
    We are no better than last year.
    We have a fort full of Junior defensemen and 2 more good goalies in the minors.
    We could have gotten someone likje a Michael Grabnes for next to nothing.
    WOW would he have looked good on the kings. I dont want us to give away roster players and Im well aware trades are difficult. Nor do I want to give up a lot to get an elite player unless it was NASH or Parise or Brad Richards. For any of those three I would be open to seriously look at what it would take to make that happen.
    We cant score 5 on 5 nor can we on the power play….WHy because we lack someone with speed and great hands.. ie that wicked blazing shot that has accuracy…………..
    It is just that some teams are able to make it happen and the Kings dont.
    I dont see us doing well this year if we dont….
    This is my strong opinion and I know there are oposing opinions.

    Only posting on this thread because it is the most recent. But did anyone else see the recent Waiver wire… I am smelling a pick up:

    Nik Zherdev
    Craig Rivet
    Marek Svatos
    Ales Kotalik (Re-Entry)

    thoughts?

    The only one I would take a chance on is Rivet. I would rather have him in there than Drewiske/Harrold/Martinez. But saying that, I haven’t seen too many Buffalo games and I don’t really know how well he is playing lately.

    Capt Jam Reply:

    @VanKingsFan,

    Well, my general position on waiver pick ups is why is the current team sending that player packing? That usually takes care of any further thought on the matter. Big exception to that in recent memory: Bryzgalov’s release by the Ducks. Possibly the worst move in franchise history.

    [Reply]

    Dont forget Grabner. Given up on by VAN and released by Fla and as we well know, lighting it up in NY.

    [Reply]

    hip-check Reply:

    @src, I wanted Grabner BAd…He often killed us last season when he was with Canucks….And he was strong in the playoffs. He even then had the speed that hurt us….And again our game this year with the islanders he hurt us….

    VanKingsFan Reply:

    @Capt Jam, Should I also point out a Mr. Kyle Quincey.

    [Reply]

    Token Reply:

    @Capt Jam, It’s generally a good strategy but one should consider the team that’s letting the player go.

    If you are a team that can just dump a 15 goal guy on a 2M contract at the TD, you must have a stacked roster.

    Zherdev is a Fro 3.0 but on the right wing. Enigma central.

    [Reply]

    hip-check Reply:

    @Capt Jam, Yes and at the time the coyotes were like 1 point behind us.. I was praying to get Bryz at the time and was very upset when Phoenix got him over us..He to me is one of two best goalies in the league.

    [Reply]

    mash-ola Reply:

    @VanKingsFan, Sounds intriguing, but you have to remember that 15 or so other teams have a crack before the Kings do of plucking someone off of waivers. That, and money, although it doesn’t seem to be a problem, could be a factor depending on these waiver wire players’ contracts. Plus… are they the right ‘fit’? Zherdev is an interesting prospect as he’s young and skilled, but you have to wonder why so many teams have given him a chance and he still hasn’t stuck… I say we go after Malkin or Parise in the off-season and take our chances. I don’t think the Kings are ready this year to make a deep run anyways…

    I like Simmonds style of play. I was a little unsure of him last year. I thought he got pushed off the puck a little too easily but that’s changed quite a bit this year. I don’t know that area of Toronto but I think it did him good growing up there. That mental toughness he has growing up there vs. growing up in a relatively “nicer” area of town.

    Keep it up Simmonds, you’re doing well!
