Postgame notes (Jan. 19)

Some notes from last night’s game…

— The Kings had their point-streak ended as they lost to the New York Islanders 3-0 on Saturday night at Nassau Coliseum.

— The Kings had tied a franchise record, set in 1974, by recording at least one point in 11 consecutive games (8-0-3). The Kings nearly went one month without a regulation loss, as they previous loss was on Jan. 20 against Phoenix.

— The Islanders beat the Kings in regulation for the first time since 2003 (and for the first time in their last seven games).

— The Kings were shut out for the fifth time this season and for the third time in their last 13 games.

— The Kings finished this six-game leg of their season-long run of 10 consecutive home games with a 3-1-2 record. With Wednesday’s game at Anaheim remaining, the Kings are 5-1-2 in the road run thus far. After Anaheim, the Kings will have eight road games remaining.

— The Kings played their final game this season against an Eastern Conference opponent, and finished with a 10-6-2 record against the East. Of the Kings’ remaining 23 games, 11 will be against Pacific Division opponents.

— After allowing three or more goals only twice in a 13-game span, the Kings have now allowed three goals in each of their last three games.

— The Kings have now allowed a total of four third-period goals in their last three games. They allowed a total of three third-period goals in their previous 15 games.

— The Kings went 0-for-3 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill. The Kings are 1-for-15 on the power play and 18-for-18 on the penalty kill in their last six games.

— The Kings outshot the Islanders 35-23, including 17-8 in the second period. The Kings reached the 35-shot mark for the first time in their last 12 games.

— Jonathan Quick stopped 20 of 23 shots in the loss. Quick had been 7-0-1 in his last eight decisions. Quick has now allowed three goals in each of his last two starts, after allowing two or fewer goals in five of his previous six starts.

— The Kings are now 15-14-3 on the road, 8-15-3 when allowing the first goal, 3-8-1 when trailing after the first period, 4-16-1 when trailing after the second period and 7-17-2 when allowing three or more goals.

— Anze Kopitar recorded a team-high five shots on goal. Dustin Brown was credited with a team-high four hits and Rob Scuderi was credited with a team-high three blocked shots.

— Drew Doughty played a game-high 28 minutes, 6 seconds. Dustin Brown led all Kings forwards in ice time at 20:19.

— The Kings won 29 of 57 faceoffs (51 percent). Michal Handzus won 10 of 15 draws (67 percent).
