The Islanders got on the scoreboard first, with a shorthanded goal 5:01 into the game. Jack Johnson’s pass was tipped, then controlled, by Michael Grabner at the Islanders’ blue line. Grabner the pushed the puck ahead to Frans Nielsen, whose sharp wrist shot from the high slot beat Quick to give the Islanders a 1-0 lead.
The one thing I ask for…limited mistakes…and they come out of the gate making multiple blunders. WTF??? Pathetic start.

Wow, for all of that talk about not having a let down – this is embarrassing.
Let’s get going.

Did someone pay our team off?!?!? WTF

our defense thinks they are really cute with these slow passes. Doughtys eego is too big. I loved his comments about how they would have won if he was out on the 3 on 3. Wake up defense.
[Reply]
uff horrible start – we are outplayed, shorthand goal, then mistake on PP, and now they have PP
[Reply]
Someone is on pills.
[Reply]
The kings expose their weakness once again on the PP with listless passess and easy to predict plays. How about a pass with some zip on it. Maybe look to throw a seam pass everyonce in a while. How bout we stop making it so easy to defend with 6 foot feather passes from the 1/2 boards to the point that one man can cover easily. What a joke.

@justlu, Exactly. People want to blame the players, but Kompon is coaching these guys and they still cant move the puck quickly enough even with talent like JJ, Kopi, and Doughty. And I still dont like the fact that Murray took out Loktionov to put Westgarth in…Sorry Terry, I disagree with you yet again.

@puck73, Our PP is the worst!!!!
No movement. Slow Lazy passes. Every pass is telegraphed.
The Isles knew where the pass was going before the puck left the stick.
Can you say predictable?????
We look terrible, bad passes. a lot of out numbered attacks.
Their speed is KILLING us.
TM where’s one of your fastest skaters Lokti????
Oh yeah you benched him……….

@Kenny44, It was an old Monty Python bit. Basically, Every other show they would have Michael Palin dressed as Torquemada rush the stage and break up a skit. Amid the chaos, one of the players would say they “never expected” that, and Palin would drop the line “Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!”
But of course, everyone did and it kept happening anyway . . .
Wow. Looks like the alarms haven’t gone off yet. Let’s wake up boys. Not what we’ve seen for a while.

Looks like the boys decided to play for a meximum of one point bc they sure aren’t playing to win.

Lokti=Grabner.
Missing that!

This might be what they need to get their heads into the game. We need a fight to bring out some emotion and i’m not talking about the scripted Westgarth v Konopka.

Funny thing is, I was thinking how poor and predictable the PP looked about 10 seconds before the pass was intercepted leading to the shortie. Gads. They Really need to do something about this powerplay. it just looks so darned predictable and sluggish.
[Reply]
Rich, can you tell if the guys are even talking to each other out there? No one seems to be on the same page.
[Reply]
Isles are attacking with speed, and we always seem to have the most trouble with teams like that. The full practice might have been counterproductive, since we don’t see that style in practice. It’s almost like our guys our thinking ” WTH are these guys doing? don’t they know about low and slow?”
.
Maybe we need to hire a scout team for our practices
[Reply]
Hey TM ! I guess with your logic the Islanders should replace Tavares…I mean after all he is a minus 22 right ?

They need to play dramatically better to even have a chance in this one. Very poor period of play and they could easily be down by three already.

Rich,
Do you think DL will trade any or resign any of the RFA’s
Rich Clune
Corey Elkins
Marc-Andre Cliché
Johan Fransson
Patrick Mullen
Bud Holloway
Andrew Campbell
David Meckler
Oscar Moller
Jeff Zatkoff
Besides Zatkoff I don’t see one player worth resigning. With Jones playing so well maybe not even Zatkoff. Maybe a minor trade before the trade deadline. I don’t know, I just see a lot of free agents in thge summer and A LOT of room for signings with a lot of cap room.
