Postgame notes (Feb. 17)

Some notes from last night’s game…

— The Kings earned at least one point in their 11th consecutive game, as they lost to the New York Rangers 4-3 in a shootout at Madison Square Garden.

— The Kings are 8-0-3 in their last 11 games and, by recording at least one point in 11 straight games, they have tied a franchise record set in 1974.

— Eight games into this season-long stretch of 10 consecutive road games, the Kings are 5-0-3, having recorded 13 out of a possible 16 points.

— With the win, the Kings moved into eighth place in the Western Conference. They have the same number of points (68) as fifth-place San Jose, sixth-place Anaheim, seventh-place Dallas and ninth-place Calgary. The first tiebreaker, at this point, is fewest games played, and the second tiebreaker is most regulation wins.

— The Kings fell to 7-2 in shootouts this season. Five of their last nine games have gone to shootouts.

— The Kings went 1-for-3 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill. The Kings broke an 0-for-12 power-play skid that spanned five games, and the Kings have now killed 17 consecutive penalties.

— The Rangers outshot the Kings 37-28. The Kings have now allowed 35 or more shots on goal in two of their last three games, and three of their last six games.

— Jonathan Bernier stopped 34 of 37 shots in regulation and overtime, and 1 of 3 shots in the shootout. Bernier has an 0-2 record in shootouts this season. Bernier entered the game having allowed only three goals in his previous three starts. He is 1-0-2 in his last three starts.

— The Kings are now 15-13-3 on the road, 24-8-1 when scoring the first goal, 13-3-1 when leading after the first period, 14-8-4 in one-goal games and 10-5-2 against Eastern Conference teams.

— Dustin Brown had two goals, including a power-play goal, for his 13th multi-point game of the season and his fourth two-goal game of the season. Brown now has 20 goals for the season, tied with Justin Williams for the team lead. Brown now has four consecutive 20-goal seasons. Brown entered the game with one goal in his previous 16 games, and recorded his first power-play goal since Dec. 26.

— Matt Greene had one goal, his first of the season and his sixth in 355 career NHL games. Greene’s career high for goals in a season is two. Greene has seven points this season, and three of them have come in his last four games.

— Justin Williams had one assist, on the power play. Williams has two goals and five assists in his last six games.

— Jack Johnson had one assist, on the power play. Of Johnson’s 33 assists this season, 22 have come on the power play. Johnson leads the Kings with 25 power-play points.

— Brad Richardson had one assist in his return to the lineup after being a healthy scratch from the previous four games.

— Anze Kopitar had one assist. Kopitar has one goal and four assists in his last four games.

— Rob Scuderi had one assist, for his 14th point of the season. Scuderi’s career high for points is 16, set with Pittsburgh in 2008-09.

— Alec Martinez had one assist. After going eight consecutive games without a point, Martinez now has two assists in his last two games.

— Anze Kopitar and Ryan Smyth each recorded a team-high four shots on goal. Alexei Ponikarovsky was credited with a team-high seven hits and Rob Scuderi was credited with a game-high five blocked shots.

— Jack Johnson played a team-high 26 minutes, 51 seconds. Anze Kopitar led all Kings forwards in ice time at 21:52.

— The Kings won 20 of 54 faceoffs (37 percent). The Kings have won fewer than 50 percent of faceoffs in five of their last six games.
