One game to go. After St. Paul, Edmonton, Calgary, Pittsburgh, Washington, Philadelphia, Columbus and Manhattan, the Kings have arrived at their final destination — scenic Long Island — with a chance to end their long stretch of games outside Southern California on a high note. So far, the Kings are 5-0-3 in this season-long stretch of 10 consecutive road games — Anaheim also remains, after a three-day break — and today, Drew Doughty talked about the importance of finishing strong and — it goes without saying — trying to get two points to keep pace in the ultra-tight Pacific Division and Western Conference races…
DOUGHTY: “Terry (Murray) said this morning that this game is going to make the difference between a great road trip compared to a good road trip. We want to finish it off on a great note. It’s tough to come into this building. You go through games in Washington and Philly, which are the best teams in the Eastern Conference, and huge games, and then you come here. It’s no knock against them or anything, but they’re obviously not as high in the standings as the other two teams. So it’s going to be, I think, the toughest game of the road trip. As the road trip goes on, you kind of get lackadaisical. You start developing bad habits, but we’ve got to make sure we’re at our best tomorrow night.”
