Dustin Brown still ranks third on the Kings in goals this season, with 18, but Brown has scored only one goal in his last 15 games. Brown was part of the latest line shuffling, as he picked up two new linemates in center Andrei Loktionov and left winger Kyle Clifford. Today, Terry Murray was asked about Brown’s production, and the importance of getting him back on track…
MURRAY: “When you get into this time of the year, you need to try to get your balanced scoring going, whether it’s from the back end or all the lines, with everybody contributing. It will come for Brownie. I think his intensity, his emotional connection to every game is going to allow him to create some opportunities, either individually or through the line attacking together. So it is a frustrating time for him right now, and moving him from one line to another is never an easy task, either, for a player. But that sometimes works, and hopefully it starts to click for him soon.”
A goal for Brownie tonight, and a couple of assists for good measure!

@KFII, Maybe, if he goes to the front of the net. He hasn’t done that lately.

Everyone on our team is in a scoring slump..of course when we’ve only scored 1 goal in 2 out of our last 3 games that can be a problem

Honestly, I think he needs to stop worrying about scoring and focus on his game. Check everything in an opposing jersey within 10 feet, plant his butt in the crease, loosen up pucks in the corners, and draw some penalties.
When he does those things, he usually ends up scoring too. Go back to basics Brownie. Kick butt tonight!

@Cynic,
all you have to do is see one of his firsts quotes entering the nhl. “that is just what i do, I hit people.” evidence can be seen on a fan video of dustin brown’s greatest hits.

When we went 12-3 at the beginning, Kopi, Brown and JW were scoring. All 3 cooled off and we had a couple of bad losing streaks. Lets hope they get their games together, goal dorughts end, and they regain their touch for the playoff run and on through the playoff. GKG and get those 2 points!

Now that he’s been moved to a position in which he fits and into role that he actually plays I think he’ll do fine.

@USHA#17,
yes, and I hope he can stop taking so many penalties that are referred to as “lazy” penalties.

Kick some tail, Cap! Create havoc out there, and it’ll come. GKG!

I thought Dallas was crazy when they gave Morrow the C, but when I look at how far he has come, given the fact he and Brown play almost identical during games. I now think given Morrows ability to get the puck in the net and always find the open spot, shows he has improved his game far more than Brown. He is a third line player and needs to stay there.

@LordStanley, I think more than anyone on this team Brown could use a consistent set of linemates and a permanent position on either the right or left side… it would do this kid wonders. Everyone on this team has been struggling to score. He has been moved around more than most. Too much for my liking. He is far better than a third line player imo!

@before99, I don’t know about that. If anything Kopitar and Brown have been joined at the hip since day one. If any players have switched lines the least, it’s him. Sure he’s switched sides a couple times but his game is better suited in a lower profile role than first line scoring winger.

Any news on the Hemsky front Rich? I’ve been saying we should go for the guy all year, pretty happy I’m actually hearing a consensus speculation on it now.

Will Brown be able to break out?
YES
[Reply]
DL has it right that in addition to a top line LW, we also need some players to produce more that are already here on order to break out of this offensive drought! I just hope its not at the expense of the defense, which unfortunately usually is the way of things!

When you get to this point in the season… you need your captain to rally the team on a crucial 10 game road trip!
He’s done that
Lets go Brown! Lets go boys!
